Guest guest
My 9 year old son is hyperlexic, he reads a lot and wants to use as many words as possible. He taught himself to read in both English and Spanish when he was 3, and he's been reading ever since. His reading level is beyond high school level. However, because he focuses in speaking gramatically correct, his sentences are extremely long. Not only that, but he also speaks very slowly (he does everything very slowly. By the time he finishes a sentence, I'm either trying to find out what a word means or trying to make sense of the first part of the question. He did not get speech therapy because his articulation is perfect (duh). As his mother, I try hard to understand him, but most people won't pay any attention at all, not to mention kids his age. His brother, who is 5, is the only one that seems to understand him. How can I help him say things in a simple form?
