Guest guest
Hello All! I am new to the group! I posted a while back, but now I am back for good! I had some medical problems with myself that kept me away for a while. So let me give you the scoop! My son JD, who is 8, and in third grade, had had all of the Asperger's symptoms for as long as I can remember. I found a pyschiatrist that said that he showed signs of it and decided that along with his Concerta, to add Risperdal. It has helped a little bit, but not much! Now for the complicated part. We don't see that psych anymore. The reason is, his old, nasty pediatrician, brought this psych into the practice with him. Well, we left on not so great terms (due to the fact of my 3 yr old, who has a severe language and speech delay and he would never admit it, what is wrong with the fact that you have a then 2 1/2 yr old that never spoke one word), so we left that practice. Now we are having a hard time finding a new psych, around here they are telling me that they can't see him until December. His new ped. is still keeping up the meds that he was on and doesn't want to change them until someone tells her to do so. I love her and she is great. JD, is now going through some series of test at school to see about Asperger's and so on. I speak with his teacher daily (she is great) and she did tell me last week that the people testing JD stated that " Wow, mom knows what she is talking about " So I am taking that as they see what I see. A child that needs help. I want him to succeed at school and have every chance to a normal life. I feel so bad for him when he walks up to me and says " Mom, I have no friends and noone likes me, I know that I am different from the other kids, but why " My heart breaks for him. He has such a hard time comprehending what is being said to him or what is being told to him. If I tell him that he needs to clean up and it comes around that he hasn't done it. I tell him that we are going to take one toy away and he can earn it back by cleaning up. He will stand there and cry and scream and say " What you are going to throw my toys away and I will never see them again " He just doesn't hear it or process it. Sorry for the long post, but this is just the bits and pieces of it. thanks for listening and I hope that everyone is having a great Monday.
