Leighanne,

Have you called your physician to make sure that they

don't want to see him?

Here I use popsicles (they make juice ones and

Pedialyte pops) to try and keep my children hydrated.

We also have crushed ice and jello. I know you are

having a hard time keeping anything in him. I have

found that the popsicles allow them to get some

hydration without putting a lot of liquid in the

stomach.

My pastor's daughter (who is 5) just went through the

same thing. They ended up having to give her (sp?)

Phenigren to help her stop throwing up. So I would

call and see if your doctor wants to see him.

Hope this helps. Good luck. Hope he feels better soon

and you can relax some!

Melinda,

Definitely ask the doctor. Kids can dehydrate literraly in 24 to 48 hours.

Don't chance it. My son was having a quote stomach ache, not very severe

pain or anything but something inside told me it was more. I took him to the

ER they said it was not his appendix and they sent me home. Pain got worse

and back to the ER I took him at 6 1/2 years old his appendix nearly

ruptured. Always follow your gut.

That is also my feeling: once my daughter began vomiting and could

not keep anything down, including meds. It turned out that her bowels

were impacted (encopresis) upon x-ray; which explained the vomiting

in her case. She was given gravol by injection for this and then

treated for the other. I would check into severe vomiting that lasts

more than a day.

My son Lucas has rarely been sick so if he was throwing up that much

I'd certainly get medical attention. you said he won't take

children's pepto-bismol. i didn't think they make kids pepto and

they schouldn't be given adults as it has aspirin in it.

Hope he feels better soon.

Pedialite or Gatorade will help keep him

hydrated even if he only holds them down for 5 or 10 minutes they will help.

Leighanne,

From time to time, my little guy won't keep anything down! What the Dr.

suggested, and seems to work....is to only give him a tablespoon of liquid

at a time. Gatorade, pedialite, etc. He says the mouth tissues will

absorb quite a bit of the moisture, until the body can handle more.

Maybe that will help?

Hugs,

Trish

Is he taking in fluids???? Popsicles are a good alternative... This happened to my son once. I ended up having to take him to the doctor and they had to give him fluids through I.V. Very scary stuff...... Just keep your eyes open for any signs of dehydration.... in Lancaster, CaLeighanne Ratliff <a_cute_tx_cowgirl@...> wrote: My other question is how do you keep a very sick toddler from becoming dehydrated. On one hand I have had kids throw up every 10 minutes all night and never

dehydrate BUT on the other hand I had my daughter dehydrate in under an hour

and a half from the first time she threw up when she was about 2 1/2.

NOTHIING has ever freaked me out like that, she just went totally lethargic

and I raced her to the ER. It can never hurt to bring them in to get a

medical opinion or at least call the Dr.

Yes, they make Children's pepto now. It's bubble gum flavored. My son just will not take it. I have tried every thing to get him to take it and he won't. He's feeling a little better today. He hasn't been sick in 2 days, and he's gotten his energy back. I guess he just had a little bit of the bug left over. LeighanneM Strahlendorf <pgnsht@...> wrote: They make Childrens Pepto now....
