Guest guest
Maybe it is the brightness of the light. Try a lower watt bulb or a colored one. Maybe even try using night lights in the outlets. Let Bam pick them out. Just a few ideas. Janelle -- ( ) scary light fixtures Bam has developed some anxiety over our ceiling light fixtures and has been asking to sleep on our bed, instead of his " scary light room. " He's not really able to communicate what about the light fixtures bother him. Any ideas about what we should try? Bam's mom
Guest guest
Well, yesterday he yeled at the " vampire " in the light fixture to COME DOWN, so maybe that's a clue. I have always been terrified of vampires, could it be genetic? :-\ I think this stems from the book _How Scary_, which has vampires dangling from the ceiling. I'm not sure what to do. He isn't falling asleep well in our bed. He used to conk right out, now it's almost 9 and he's still awake. He didn't get his usual 12 hours last night and almost certainly won't tonight. I guess I'll try getting a night light tomorrow. Bam's mom
Guest guest
, Take him with you and let him pick out the lights like I suggested. Also maybe take him to the library and have him check out a book about something silly of happy. Read it to him during the day and at night before he goes to bed. This might put happy thoughts in his head. Maybe get him a poster of something he likes and put it on his wall. Just some ideas. Cheers, Janelle -- Re: ( ) scary light fixtures Well, yesterday he yeled at the " vampire " in the light fixture to COME DOWN, so maybe that's a clue. Guest guest
When we were having problems with being afraid of the dark (actually, he still is), I let him help pick out a night light. Since he can't read, I told him the one he picked was great because it would change colors if monsters were to come into him room. So, not only was it a night light, but also a monster detector. So, as long as it doesn't turn red (pick what ever color you want), he has nothing to worry about. It works like a charm. :-) Kirsten > Well, yesterday he yeled at the " vampire " in the light > fixture to COME DOWN, so maybe that's a clue. > > I have always been terrified of vampires, could > it be genetic? :-\ > > I think this stems from the book _How Scary_, which > has vampires dangling from the ceiling. > > I'm not sure what to do. Guest guest
How about one of those round, paper chinese lantern things. Not expensiive and since It's shaped like a ball, it doesn't cast strong shadows. I put in a blue light bulb too, made a nice soft blue room. The Kid thought it was real cool. > Bam has developed some anxiety over our ceiling light > fixtures and has been asking to sleep on our bed, > instead of his " scary light room. I actually have one of those, I've been meaning to get put up in his room! Unfortunately, we're having serious dishwasher issues at the moment, so my husband/handyman doesn't have much spare time. But perhaps we can squeeze it in. I figured out why he's not falling asleep in our bed - he's fascinated by our digital clock! We tried turning it face down, but of course when we went in to move him to his own bed, it was up again. :-\ Bam's mom
