I could NEVER get my boys to take naps at 4. LUCKY you!!!!!!!

But naps were always a little too long when they did happen. Never

that long though.

I have heard that even as adults, if we nap too long, we get into REM

and that makes it worse for us when we wake up. If you wake him after

an hour, does he stay grumpy all day?? What is his night time like and

well, maybe his morning and night routine?

Curious

Well, our routine here is that he wakes us at about 7 am with lots of

jumping and bouncing. Naps are for after lunch and he has to have

lots of activity to need a nap. If he takes one and we try to wake

him after an hour, he will refuse to get up. We wait a few minutes

and try again, same deal. Once we get him up, he is okay after an

hour or so. Bed time is supposed to be at 7:30 or 8 and that doesn't

usually go so well. He just can't stay still long enough to fall

asleep unless someone is with him, even then, it can take hours.

Nights are bumpy in respect to sleep, he often comes and climbs in

with us anytime from 2am to 4 am. Thankfully, he goes right to sleep

with us.

Seth seriously sleeps like he's in a coma. We have to put pull-ups on

him even just for naps because he WILL not get up and go. He will pee

himslef and still not wake up but will continue to sleep in it and

he's almost six. I used to get so angry when my mother woke me up

from naps that they stopped letting me have them when I was two and

the really weird thing is that I can actually remember how absulutely

furious I was every time that she woke me up. I mean i have a keen

memory of being just enraged and I'm just shy of 31 right now so I

guess I really was angry since I remember it so well.

Dave, that last part sounds like my 9 year old.

Difficulty falling asleep, but sleeps GREAT if it is with me.

I have used Melatonin in the past, and that seemed to work well.

I am putting him and his older brother on it.

They love it because they have a much better sleep habit.

Don't you wonder how he gets the energy for getting up so early? I

sure do.... Wish I could easily. haha

Don't you just wish we could hook a charger up to them, then, once we

have drained some of the energy, plug ourselves in and away we go???

I could run for days on my boys' energy!!!

If he is getting up during the night and causing havok, I really would suggest

you do away with the nap. You may need him to take a nap, but it doesn't sound

like he does. Maybe if he gets on a regular schedule, he will be more apt to

sleep at night instead of running around and getting into things. If you need a

break, school will be starting soon or you can sign him up for a class where he

can be engaged and learning while you relax - win-win.
