Libby,

We have found it very necessary to maintain GFCF with enzymes. While they

help a great deal, they are not enabling us to leave the diet behind. The

TACA site helps with transitioning to GFCF nicely. (do NOT go cold

turkey...ie: do as I say, not as I did ;))

Good luck to you!~

I added enzymes to our GFCF Diet because our diet was

so limited. My son is also very picky and eats about 8

things and we were even more restricted on the diet.

That said, I've seen MORE improvements with the

enzymes than I did with the diet.

We are currently pursuing some oral motor exercises

and sensory exercises to help build up his repertoire.

Hope this helps a bit... Amy

My daughter can have very severe sensory issues like this when she

has yeast overgrowth, and she retains fairly significant ones when

she's on gluten. She needs to be gfcf on enzymes to function well.

My son is fine eating gluten with enzymes, but he still has several

restrictions, and gets yeast all the time.

Besides the gfcf site, I'd get " Special diets for special kids " -

the recipies are full of sugar, though, so I use stevia and some

honey to replace that.

the bread addiction, We don't do dairy, but my son does seem to live

by bread alone, and I need to help him. If this is familiar to

anyone I would like suggestions books or websites or personal of how

to start. My concern is that with the rigidity of what he will eat

and the shuddering sensory stuff, am I putting the cart before the

horse? will he starve himself? Am I being ridiculous? Is GFCF

beneficial even with enzymes. Anyway, I am open to any suggestions

Some kids still need gfcf with enzymes, many don't. My son was gfcf

and he IMPROVED when I added back wheat with HNI enzymes. Try giving

the enzymes for a few weeks, then determine if you still need to

remove foods even with the enzymes. I had to remove artificials,

rice, corn, and orange/green foods, but not wheat.
