The psychiatrist mistakenly put my name on the rx. I told his secretary that he probably " feels " I need it as well - you know, just joking around while waiting for the doctor to come out to rewrite it. Well he came up behind me and said " the apple doesn't fall far from the tree " ....lol! My hand is raised, I'll confess I am kind of quirky too lol and I was wondering if maybe other parents here are too and this is a learned behavior for our kids lol or maybe genetically related to us and not DS. Guest guest Posted June 23, 2006 Report Share Posted June 23, 2006 You know, Seth was the same way. Developmentally in the physical sense he was very behind. He didn't walk until 16 months he didn't turn over until very late. Everything was the very last minute before the doctors said, " Maybe there's something wrong here. " Except for talking. He starting taking at seven months. Literally. He couldn't sit up without being propped but he could say simple words like, " Hello. " , " mommy " and " Daddy " " ball " and " cat. " And by 15 months he was speaking in full, cognicent sentences (He gave me a bag a fruit snacks at 15 months and said, " These make me poop " ) but he couldn't run until he was almost four years old. His fine motor skills are fine (ha, ha) but his gross motor skills are extremely poor. It's so funny being here because everyone talking about their children could be talking about Seth. I ahven't struggled too much with him lately (we've gone through some bad patches where I used books like, " Raising you Strong Willed Child " and " Raising Your Spirited Child. " to get control of the situation again) but it is such a comfort to hear these things come out of the mouths of other mothers. I love Seth so much.
