Guest guest
I happened to take a quick glance at my 6th grader's grammar worksheet at the last minute this morning. He had done it at school. The exercise was to fill in clauses to make interesting sentences. I can't remember them, but mostly he would add stuff like " The woman ---with three heads--- was a good chef. " <rolling my eyes> However, he put " The book-- with porn in it --- was not suitable for children. Great sentence, but uh, not appropriate. I didn't know he knew what that meant. On the drive to school, DH said he said kids talk about that alot at school. Sigh. Then DH just told me last year when the 3rd graders went to overnight camp, there were poles in the cabins. The kids were talking about stripper poles and various sexual acts. 8 year olds. My son was clueless. He knows how to make babies and how to get them out, but it's all a serious matter to him. Guest guest
Hi Jackie, Yes, this kind of thing is very sad. My organization just did a presentation on AS and sexual development, and one of our themes was Rethinking the Value of " Mainstream " ? NT children learn rules, especially sexual rules, by repeatedly breaking them. This is not a learning option for ASD kids, regardless of family culture. But you're so right that this is one of the bright sides to AS. Hundreds of thousands of parents struggle with options like home- schooling in order to have better control over the culture of their children. Parents of aspies have much more power to protect innocence until an appropriate age. The problem is that NT parents have naturally edited their own memories of how socially repulsive children can be (most of this is not new -- it's just happening younger), so it's crucial when parents like you remind the rest of us what is out there. 8 year-olds! Sheesh! Sincerely, Mayshar aspergersociety.com jmayshar@...
Guest guest
Hi Again. Actually, I'm wondering if you would be willing to send a copy of this worksheet to me. I'm more interested in the questions than in your son's answers. If they have a sentence fill-in that says " The book__________was not suitable for children, " then they're kind of asking for trouble from any type of child. It sounds perfect for my education foolishness file. Sincerely, Mayshar aspergersociety.com jmayshar@...

My son was being bullied at the end of 6th-grade and a kid was calling him a " faggot " . He had no clue what that was. They guy was also saying that my son " sucked balls. " He had no idea what he meant. Then, at the beginning of 7th, the same guy hit my son in the back of the head while the teacher was out of the classroom. Of course, they were both hauled up to the dean's office. The kid said that called him a " player. " He had NO idea what the meant. Or that it was bad. The dean sure did. I asked my son if he knew what it meant and he said, " Like a baseball 'player'? " Kind of ridiculous to think that both boys were given lunch detention-one for supposedly calling someone a " player " , and the other one for physically hitting the other????????!!!! Needless to say, after a phone call to the school, the dean went back to the class and THEN asked the class what happened and everyone in there told her that had said NOTHING to the other kid!!! Ah, Life. Melinda

I would take it mean someone who takes advantage of another person....someone who tries to take an undeserved advantage by deceit or lying. Guest guest
My son also knows about how babies are made, how they come out etc. Right now he thinks its gross and informed me when he needed more info on intimate relatinships he would let me know. The other day at the grocery store while Stuart was helping me w/ the list, (he is in charge of marking off items and telling me whats next) he noticed Tampax on the list. " Mom I dont know what this is. " " Dont worry about it Stuart its a mom thing " " But what is it mom? " " Its a femine hygene product Stuart " " Oh that is just gross mom " . Sometimes I think my son in more socially adjusted than the rest of the world. > > > > > . Of course, they were both hauled up to > > the dean's office. The kid said that called him > > a " player. Guest guest
A player is a guy that dates and " hooks up " with a lot of girls at one time. Guest guest
I thought it sorta meant in situations even other than relationships. Kind of like a " weasel " .
