Guest guest
Hi Holly Sorry it has taken me so long to post back. I am South of Seattle in Kitsap county. Boy, the school. It has been a roller coaster. My son has gone to the same school since Kindergarten, he is in Second grade now. I think I told everybody from the principal to the janitor that I thought he had AS his first year. His K teacher told me not to believe everything I read on the internet. When he started all day school in first grade his sensory problems bubbled to the surface and his first week he was sent to sit in the " trouble " chair everyday for yelling at his teacher. At that point I requested an emergency IEP meeting and told them about the waiting list we were on to be seen at the UW. When he was diagnosed later that year, the school Phsy said AS, what a shock. I could have slapped her. Im now waiting for them to evaluate him for social services through a SLP. My sons struggles in reading and I think that he may have dyslexia. Ive been told that he is receiving services in reading for dyslexia even though he has not been assessed. None of this makes sense to me. I did get him an Leapster L max for Christmas and it seems to have helped him alot in the short time he has had it. Wow, 4 kids. How nice though that they have each other. My son is our only child. I look forward to hearing from you, Im not sure where Stratwood is exactly, But I think I saw it on the news recently.
