Personally, I would not say anything to her...others do not seem to be

receptive to our observations about their children. He's very young and, at

some

point, a teacher or another friend may say something...or the mom might end

up noticing something about her child herself....just my opinion...

Blessings,

Gail

I have a friend, not a close friend, more like an aquaintance, who's

son has a lot of Asperger symptoms. He's 4...He's like 4 and 1/2 feet

tall. He toe walks and is very hyper and notices very subtle things.

There's just something about him. He spits a lot and is extremely

smart and has so many poems and stories and quotations and Bible verses

to memory. Long ones too! And with no expression. So should I tell

this lady or keep it to myself and hope that someone close to her will

notice? She seems very ignorant of the whole thing. I don't want to

judge but, I know she comes from a family who tries so very hard to

look perfect. I hate to be the one to burst her bubble. It would, for

her, be a big bursting, of course she doesn't know what a joy it can

be, once you know about and can accept an Aspie Child, for they are

truly SPECIAL!!!!

K.. She's an aquaintance and it would burst her bubble..

Does that mean you don't think she would get him the services that would

make him as successful as possible?

Hmm.. It is hard.. Once we get the diagnoses ourselves and even manage to

rejoice in that diagnoses.. As it has answered lots of questions for us.. It

can be hard not to spread the word

Play it by ear.. Can you bring up the subject and perhaps suggest that you

see lots of your sons talents in her child?? Making it a positive thing...

Saying HEY I think you'll find your child has a high intelligence.. And..

Possibly some asperger traits.. I have found an official diagnoses helpful

in getting extra services and education for him.. Have you ever considered

it?

If she shuts you down.. Then back off.. Its not always easy for some

I agree. From the sounds she won't like what she is going to hear no matter

who tells her.
