Guest guest
My 3 yr old daughter is AS. Today was her first day of preschool. She went in willingly, told me bye etc... I put her on the bus to ride home and when she got here she was obviously upset. Crying etc.. it seems the bus restraints freaked her out. The driver and aide are willing to help in anyway to make her more comfortable. My question is should I put her on it again and stand firm? Or do I just pick her up? Was school and bus just too much of a load for her too soon?HELP!! lol Tammie
Guest guest
Tammie, I've had to put my son (who is now 13) on the bus at 3 and my youngest daughter (who is now 5), on the bus at 3. What kind of restraints do they have? Ours has two different kinds. Ours have the kind that comes out of the seat. But, when 's jacket was too puffy for that, they used the regular lap seat belt for her. I would keep putting her on and stand firm. If it continues after a week or so, then maybe reconsider, but I know (my 13 year-old) was fine his first day. But the second day, (and I will never forget), he left crying and I could see him mouthing the word " mommy " through the window. Broke my heart. But he got over it. Still not keen on riding the bus, but he does it without a problem. Melinda
Guest guest
Thanks for the quick response. They invited me on the bus to show them to me. It was sort of like a vest. I guess in my daughters mind maybe a straight jacket? No really it didn't seem to bad. Maybe just the different kind than she was used too. Or it my thought was maybe she was allowed to walk on the bus check it out, then told to get in her seat belt etc... She will fight me if I try and put her in hers too. Thanks so much I will let you know how tomorrow goes. Re: ( ) 3 yr old and bus ??? Guest guest
My 3.5 yr old started preschool in October. The 1st week I drove him and then after He took the bus. The first week he would cry terrible when I put him in after that he was fine. Maybe you could try it for a week or so and see if she gets better with it. Bobby now loves taking the bus(its really a small van) to school. Tina ( ) 3 yr old and bus ??? My 3 yr old daughter is AS. Today was her first day of preschool. Guest guest
Ana, Thanks for the advice. Thanks also for the hugs she does allow them (sometimes) I thought about actually going to the school tomorrow and seeing if she protests riding one more time. If she does then I will take her be her transportation. Tammie Re: ( ) 3 yr old and bus ??? Dear Tammie: You should take her to school and pick her up after school, unless she is willing to use the school bus without any pressure. Do not make her use the bus. Besides being AS, she is just 3 yrs. old, the stress is too much for her. She might hate school If you persist in her using the school bus before she is ready for it. Please, give her a big hug for me ( of course if she allows the touching). Ana
Guest guest
Hello Trloe, If she's that upset, please make her feel more comfortable. until then, If it were my child, I would drive her too school & pick her up. She is only 3 years old. I'm concerned with the power struggle that you have to go through first thing in the morning and would worry about her not wanting to go to school. Keep talking to her, maybe if you can try to follow the bus? or meet her at school? or ride the bus with her? or change her seat? (if you can). Maybe after school, the driver would let her just sit in the seat until she got use to it. with you there. best luck - Rose trloe@... wrote: My 3 yr old daughter is AS.
