Guest guest
Hello Angels Mom, I had my two children tested for allergies. But, they would only do environment testing. (horse, dust, grass, etc). while completing the application I also requested a food test too. I was told they won't do food testing because " you " will know if they are allergic to foods. they would have a reaction right away. I said, not with milk. they still said no! I spoke to their doctor and he said the same thing. How did you get them to test for food allergies? My daughter gets chronic sinus infections and the allergy test she had showed she is not allergic to anything. but, they still won't do food testing. - Rose angelsmom201 <angelsmom201@...> wrote: Hello everyone! My dear, sweet, always-on-the-go :-) daughter, Angel has just been diagnosed with several food allergies. (Milk, Chicken, beef, soy, rice foods, peanut, broccoli, eggs) and (histamine and saline) Some of these foods can be eaten in moderation and some cannot be eaten at all. Angel is 4 yrs old and only weighs 27 pounds. Does anyone out there have the same problems and can give suggestions on things to do? Thank you all so much! Have a wonderful day!! Take Care, V. Guest guest
They tested my son at 4yo for allergies. I wanted milk done because when he was 2yo--he would get diarrhea every time I gave him milk. So we just went to soy. At about 3.5-4yo---i started giving him milk again and he was fine. But.....he had this rash on his groin/legs and an itchy anus. He tested positive for casein and eggs. We did a 3 week trial and the rash cleared in 2 days. Eggs was really hard to do--so I gave him that again. The allergist told me that kids normally grow out of food allergies and it can still show up on the skin test---even when its an old allergy. We are going back on the 10th--its been 1 year and get retested. And they never tested for gluten. So I want that done. He is also allergic to everything we have in the house!!! cats, dogs, dust, mold, etc We are also going to do more extensive testing thru Great Plains. I just received my testing kits in the mail a few days ago. It will test for something like 96 different foods, inhalants, etc. Anyone who is interested-----it is very interesting reading: http://www.gpl4u.com/home.htm http://www.gpl4u.com/testkits.html Holly --6y on Saturday
Guest guest
Hey there! I just went to an allergy specialist and asked for the testing. He told me that in children and allergies, except peanut, you may not see all of the reactions. The could have their blood pressure going high and then dropping, headaches, high heart rate, stomach aches, etc. He wants me to check my little one's blood pressure, etc. Good luck finding out something!! It is expensive but I was lucky enough to have the only insurance that they contract with. For a pretty thorough battery of tests it was around $2300.00 but once again that was the price for insurance billing. They do have clinics from time to time around the nation where you are given a reduced price for paying cash. I did run into some dissapointments with the lab. There was a test done that was not ordered and it took me a while to get it taken off my bill and some other issues..they seemed to be very busy and a bit disorganized. I did however get a phone consultation at no charge with the head of the lab ( Dr. Shaw ) which was very informative. In respect to the allergy testing they do you can choose between IGE or IGG testing or do both ( we only had IGG ). Most regular allergy doctors don't do IGG and also don't believe these allergies exist. IGE would be what they test for and that is immediate allergic reaction that can sometimes be deadly. IGG is for delayed reaction which is associated more with the digestive system or reaction after food has reached the gut. Hope this helps some. ************
