Guest guest
Your son sounds immunosupressed- which is why he had so many strep infections. My son had a very serious Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection- and I was just as baffled as you. Folks who contract this bacteria already have damaged tissue. Generally- it is nosocomial- which means its contracted in the hospital. These are people with severe burns, cystic fibrosis, and in cancer and AIDS patients who are immunosuppressed. http://textbookofbacteriology.net/pseudomonas.html The antibiotics prescribed- that are shown to induce sensitivity, are generally IV and not oral. There is one oral- " ciprofloxin " that is more commonly used for anthrax infection. When I did my research- I had lots of responces on how this antibiotic ruined peoples lives- it was kind-of scarry. The only good herbal product that was listed as sensitive was Uva Ursi. I did lots of research- and it can be dangerous- and isnt recommended in children. You shouldn't use it more than twice a year, and it is hard on the liver. http://www.healthandage.com/html/res/com/ConsHerbs/Uvaursich.html http://www.innvista.com/health/herbs/uvaursi.htm I decided to use this instead of the cipro. At some point after the treatment- which shouldn't last more than 7 days, Devon started acting strange- doing things ive never seen him do. Sitting quietly for no reason, falling asleep at strange times, etc. I thought he had menengitis. We took him to ER- and his liver enzymes had doubled. Now- ive been told this elevation isnt real concerning- but it was from the uva ursi. Now, its likely that he had a virus as well. On the flip side- the treatment certainly was effective. The repeat stool test brought the level down significantly. His stool smelled like ammonia- classic bacterial die off. Following this info- we decided to switch to Biocidin- http://www.biobotanicalresearch.com/index2.html this has shown to be effective for psuedonomas http://www.biobotanicalresearch.com/news.html If you want, you could use a very small dose of uva ursi- in combination with the biocidin- and then repeat the stool test. You can get a bacteria run at DDI for like $89. I would take the news seriously and treat it though- its not an infection to let sit around- it can cause death- which is why the uva ursi sounded pretty good to me, even knowing he had liver issues. PS-Devon was a-symptomatic. So what are the signs/symptoms of pseudomonas? I did a couple of internet searches but seem to find info on pseudomonas in skin. Antibiotics are used to treat it. I am wondering what the symptoms are. Are antibiotics the best route? DD has had 6 rounds of strep this school year alone...has moderate yeast so I hesitate to do another antibiotic. I saw a post that some used OoO. How much and how often? Ann
