We did 3 meals with the NF/Kirkmans and no negatives at all. 24 hours of

peace! My Houston order came this afternoon so at supper I made the switch

and gave him 1/2 NF and 1 AFP (both old formula). It's kind of early yet, only

about 1 1/2 hours but so far so good.

Anyway, I've been trying to figure out if the MCT is causing a viral die-off (a

definite possibility that he has viral issues) or if he just can't tolerate MCT

period and if it's something to be avoided.

It just suddenly occurred to me that you mentioned that MCT is also present

in breast milk. I could not breast feed him although I tried. He's my 2nd

child

and I did breastfeed his brother. I had a heck of a time trying to feed him

even

in the hospital. He'd latch on and fall asleep and the nurse would poke and

prod him to try and get him to feed. When the public health nurse did her 5

week home visit I complained that he didn't seem to be getting enough milk

and asked if I should supplement with a bottle and she said " no way just keep

at it " . I decided to go to the dr instead and he weighed less at 5 weeks than

he did at birth! I immediately switched to formula (with the drs blessing!).

At

that point he started to put on weight right away.

So, now I'm thinking, could he have been reacting negatively to the MCT in

my milk even then? I never understood why I wasn't able to breast feed him

even though I was able to with his brother.

Would something like this be a possibility or is this a stretch? I know it

sounds

a little bizzare!
