Guest guest
Hi my son has been GFCF for 8 weeks and we recently figured out that he is probably very sensitive to phenols. We started him on no- fenol about 48 hours ago and we are seeing both positive and negative reactions. He is taking about 1/8-1/4 of a capsule with every meal. Can someone tell me if this is what I should expect and possibly where to go from her. Positive Reactions: formed stools with very little undigested food. Almost brown colored this is an improvement over yellow loose stools with a lot of undigested food. better sleep...only up once last night and twice the night before. Very easily back to sleep both nights. longer sleep...over 10 hours last night(YEA!) not shoveling his food in. He used to just shovel his food into his mouth using both hands as quickly as he could. Spilling food everywhere. at times, not quite as hyper. Seems more tuned in. Negative reactions at times, very hyper. He had a banana with breakfast and it seemed by a couple of hours later, he was very hyper. I rubbed his back with Epsom Salt Lotion and it seemed to really calm him down. at times more agressive. He is not normally agressive but he bit me and his sister as well as really pulled her hair. a little more self injury. Doesn't usually do this alot, but it seems he is pulling his own hair more. more self stimulation. He hadn't been spinning himself lately, and he did that some today (still not that bad..it might just be an active 2 year old thing) Also, he hasn't been getting much phenolic foods as we had limited those. How should I go about reintroducing some of the less offensive ones? How quickly should I up him to 1/2 capsule with each meal? I was planning on doing it slowly over about 1-2 weeks? Is that OK? Also, when should I introduce the zyme-prime? THANKS so much for all your help. mom to Sam 2 years ASD and Madelyn 1 year
Guest guest
>>>We started him on no-fenol about 48 hours ago and we are seeing both positive and negative reactions. Good!!! This is a pattern I always look for. When you see both some positive along with any undesirable behaviors/effects, this usually always indicates an adjustment to the enzymes which will go away shortly. The effects might be die-off (No-Fenol has proven awesome on yeast), cleaning out the colon (just ask my husband about that), or other detox reactions. Keep at the dose you are at for a few more days and he should be stabilizing more. Then increase to 1/2 cap and allow for any more detox. You might want to go up to 1 capsule then and allow for more detox. Then try one food back at a time. Test that one food for a week or so because a reaction might be delayed. Then if that works out, test another one. >>>I was planning on doing it slowly over about 1-2 weeks? Sounds very good. Doing the low-n-slow has been successful in the past. >>>Also, when should I introduce the zyme-prime? I would add in the Zyme Prime after you increase the No-Fenol and before testing foods. This way the Zyme Prime enzymes can help breakdown any other starches, fats, and proteins in the new food not covered by No-Fenol. Just better digestion all around too. . For some kids, No-Fenol does not help with amine foods, even if it helps with salicylate foods. > a little more self injury. Bananas feed yeast. http://www.danasview.net/yeast.htm > Also, he hasn't been getting much phenolic foods as we had limited > those. Start with salicylate foods to the left side [lower salicylates] and avoid the amines for now [check for the % http://www.zip.com.au/~ataraxy/Salic_03.txt >>How quickly should I up him to 1/2 capsule with > each meal? Either after you have increased the No-Fenol, or now before you start increasing it. Dana
Guest guest
My daughter gave me some little negative behaviors with the small doses of NF so I upped it to 1 cap at each meal very quickly and the behaviors were gone. She was already on AFP and ZP. We did get some little yeast problems after that (possibly die-off but unsure at this point).
