Guest guest
Hello Diane welcome to the list I am using Kirkmans Enzyme Complete, as I understand it has both carb enzymes as well as protein enzymes, all in one. The first day I gave them to him, he had a NORMAL BM within HOURS!! I was elated!! >>>>Yeah! I carried Sams first normal poop around the house so everybody could look LOL!!! He has been chronically constipated for the past 2 years, and nothing we have tried (medically/alternative) has worked yet---until now! Well, now in the last day or so, I noticed that his stools are getting very loose. This is the only thing we have changed in his diet, and I'm wondering if I'm giving him too much at one time? I've worked up to approx 1 capsule per meal. >>>Thats not too much particularly with Kirkman caps He has had wonderful BM's and now loose stools, both with the 1capsule per meal regimen. Should I cut back and see what happens? >>>I wouldn;t in fact I might be inclined to give some more but I have no experience with this enzyme. I use HNI. The enzymes could be clearing out his system if he's been constipated for years. They help with gut bug issues also. They also help absorb more water, often see wetting incidents while you get adjsuted. I just DREAD going back to having to give him an enema again, and am afraid to chance it. I figure a loose stool is better than NO stool---the lesser of two evils, I guess. >>>My thoughts exactly. Give him 2-3 weeks and it may just settle down. This is often how it works out with HNI enzymes Any suggestions?? Also, any other supplements you feel would be a " must " based on what I'm giving him? I've been thinking zinc, since I've heard so much about it. Haven't started a multi vitamin yet--want to get the enzymes working first. One thing at a time, slowly. >>>yep I would wait until things are settled and have a look into Brainchild vutamins and minerals _www.brainchildnutritionals.com_ (http://www.brainchildnutritionals.com) which are highly recommended and well balanced. Did you find s site yet? Lots of info there on what to expect etc _www.enzymestuff.com_ (http://www.enzymestuff.com) HTH Mandi in UK

That enzyme contains papain/bromelain, and some kids don't tolerate that. You might want to consider HNI SCD Zyme Prime, because it is comparable to Complete, and does not contain papain/bromelain http://www.houstonni.com/ You might need to increase the dose, altho you say that the bms were better at the lower dose. Definitely you can try reducing the dose back to where the bms were better, see if that helps. He might be eating foods that the Complete does not address. Consider adding HNI No-Fenol, see if that helps. >>Also, any other supplements you feel would be a " must " based on what I'm giving him? It really depends on your child. Congrats on the start of nicer bms! Dana
