Guest guest
Hi Vicki, The docs at Pfeiffer told me to give my son his weight plus add 20 per day. In otherwords, he weighs 100 you give 120 mgs per day total but in divided doses. R
Guest guest
Hi, My nutritionist recommended working up to 30 mg a day (my son is 41 pounds). I don't know if I would recommend this product, but it does work for us. We use the Metagenics Zinc Drink (I've heard it may feed yeast, but we haven't experienced that, just positives). The great thing about a zinc deficiency is that it will taste like water if you are zinc deficient, and taste absolutely awful if you are not (I have had this experience myself). Anyway, to make a long story short, we started at about 7 mg a day, and worked up to 30. First, we experienced positive effects, then I added some supplements, and he reacted to something, and we stopped them all. I then worked up to 15 mg and stopped there (with the nuritionists okay). Mostly because he didn't seem better with more, and that level stopped the mouthing and chewing. Also, he'll take it for a week or so straight, then start refusing it. I let him, because I think his body knows something. A few days later, he'll start taking it again, or he'll start mouthing a bit, and I'll give it to him. This also seems to work for me (i.e., I won't taste it, take it for a few days, then it will taste vile, and I'll stop). I think as my son't stomach heals, he is becoming less in need of massive amounts of zinc. Judy > To whomever supplements with zinc, what is the dosing protocol? When I was loading my son with zinc, I gave him approx 60 mg per day. > Also, every time I give my son fruit or fruit juice of any kind, he > gets diarrhea. Even then, the enzyme did not allow him to eat all fruits. It can also be yeast. Dana
