If you have yeast that you know of, use oil of oregano with the No- Fenol or other yeast-killer. This will enhance the effect on yeast. You don't *need* to give anything else, but magnesium is often helpful. >>>>I also want to start him on a probiotic. Does anyone know which to start with first. I don't want to start them both at the same time so I can measure the success of one at a time. Between enzymes and probiotics, either will work. I rather like enzymes first though to get a jump on cleaning out the gut and helping other supplements be better used. Then as the bad bugs are cleared out, the good ones can get it, get attached, and establish. Do you have a probiotic picked out? .

Guest guest
Can enzymes be taking with probiotics. I seem to remember reading that they should be consumed separately. If so, how do get my daughter who doesn't tolerate any food without enzymes to eat it? thanks!
Guest guest
It basically has to do with the type of probiotic you are using. Enzymes will be in your digestive tract anyway (your own pancreatic enzymes, enzyme is saliva, in the intestines...). Some probiotic strains need protection or 'buffering' from the stomach acid while others do not. Also, companies have different ways of manufacturing and encapsulating there products. Some need to be taken with food; some must be taken between meals, and others can be taken either with food or between meals. It doesn't really hinge on the enzyme supplements, or enzymes present in your body, but rather how the company put together a particular probiotic. I used Culturelle and Florajen for some time and gave with enzymes in the more and at bedtime. It worked great that way...but those probiotics were designed for taking any time of the day. It isn't a blanket statement for all probiotics and all enzymes. Usually the label will say which the company suggests you do. Think of it this way too...if a probiotic is going to be destroyed by enzymes (presumably in a supplement), how is it possibly going to survive and colonized swimming in all the enzymes which are always in the gut anyway??? Another idea is to just try taking both enzymes and probiotics together for a week, and then try taking them separately for a week. If you get better results with one way over the other, go with whatever works out best for you. . >>> and/or Dana - My son's nutritionist mentioned that I should not give enzymes and probiotics together. This is the first time I have heard this. > > Is this correct? > > Thanks in advance > Martha > > Is this correct? > > Thanks in advance > Martha >

Guest guest
and Dana - Thanks for your replies. My son is currently taking Kirkman's Super ProBio Gold w/breakfast and Klaire Labs Detox Probiotics w/dinner. For enzymes, he is taking No Phenol and Zyme Prime at each meal. You would either need to contact HNI directly, to see if those enzymes would tend to compromise those probiotics, or maybe would have specific info. I only know that certain enzymes affect certain probiotics, but I don't know the specifics. Dana
Guest guest
I would think it is the other way around....contact the manufacturer of the probiotics products, Kirkman and Klaire, to see if their probiotics are sensitive to enzyme supplements. The probiotics are live and the manufactures would know better what conditions their probiotic strains need to survive...and why the probiotic is manufactured the way it is. . >>> You would either need to contact HNI directly, to see if those enzymes would tend to compromise those probiotics, or maybe would have specific info. Guest guest
/Dana - Thanks for the idea of contacting Kirkman and Klaire Labs regarding their probiotics. I'm sorry I didn't think of that. I spoke with reps from both companies this a.m. and they suggested taking the enzymes at the beginning of the meal and the probiotics at the end of the meal. I vaguely remember Dana mentioned this suggestion in one of her many informative posts as well. Just an fyi....in case anyone else has a similar questions.
