Guest guest
Help! My husband and I stupidly thought this past two weeks would be a good time to try the diflucan that the DAN Dr had given us. We had really debated giving him this as he'd been doing so much better and his stools had really firmed up over the past few months with the enzymes ( the zyme prime). We were seeing just a few things that we thought this could help and the ABA consultant told us that treating the yeast had produced so really big gains for her clients. We thought, well, my husband would be with me since we would be at the beach, how bad could it be? The first week was great, B was so " on " we thought we were foolish about being scared to try this course of treatment. He was just being so cute and appropriate. Then we enrolled B in a local VBS and I didn't even tell them that B had any issues rather than food allergies and he did so great there the first few days and they loved him and everything was wonderful and we would go to pick him up and he'd be sitting with the other kids and coloring with them or playihng legos WITH them. It was so great and we were so smart for giving him that diflucan. Then there was a stomach bug going around at VBS. The first night he caught it he had slight fever and a lot of vomitting, in two beds, so a lot of laundry for me. He seemed better the next day so we were quite happy that his immune system seemed to be stronger than it had in the past. My husband even took him to the pool, he was so well. The next night no fever, horrible diahrea, thru his pajamas all over one bed and then later all over one of our area rugs. Again, a lot of laundry and my husband even joined the fun with helping to clean the rug. Last night, again a big mess, so more laundry today. We got home today andI gave him a Houston's probiotic to try and counterbalance the fact that he had been on the diflucan. Now B's really wigged out on us. A whole lot of scripting, doing weird things with his fingers, looking out of the corners of his eyes. He's like he's on a drug trip. It was so upsetting and now I feel like we are back at square one. Any advice? And not to be left out, little sister A, has started to play with her poop in the crib. I've had to change her sheets twice today and probably 6 times over the last two weeks. To sum it up, it's been a realy s****y week. We have our follow up appt with GI Dr. in a week and a half. I'm planning to call his office Monday; but, I don't think they really know that much about our kids. They certainly can help if the diahrea continues;l but don't think they'll have a clue about the weird behaviours. Any help appreciated. Guest guest
I don't know if I this constitutes help but my son always has a very runny and lasting diahrea after a viral infection related fever. The viral infection may be the real cause of all this. So much so that I can't determine if it is yeast or chronic viral issues. Guest guest
Hi, I have not dealt with the enzymes yet... still trying to figure out how to do it and when to do it... but I have dealt with yeast extensively. First, there was a stomach bug going around in May,where I live, that behaved very strangely. All three of my kids got it, but no two had the exact same sympotms. It was not 24 hours, but more like a week of intestinal difficulties -- various fevers, diarrhea, vomiting, gagging, appetitie loss, gass. So, his continuing intestinal issues might be that. Second, when you kill yeast you will have yeast die-off sympotms. Yeast is a fungus and when you kill it it will have to decompose and exit the body. Die-off symptoms vary from person to person, but ones I have experienced include fever, body aches and chills, nausea, and diarrhea. The slower you kill off the yeast the fewer symptoms you will have. Drinking lots of water helps to wash out the system faster. Hope that helps sort things out. a > > > > > >
