Is there a mercury issue with this booster? All tetanus boosters contain thimerosal. If you decide to give it, give lots of antioxidants [vitamin C, selenium] and anti-virals. You can also consider non-vax options if your child ever has an injury that would " require " the vax http://www.mothering.com/sections/experts/tenpenny-archive.html#tetanus Dana
Guest guest
--- My doctor has tested for titers on my 7yo for all vacinines except DTAP. He said you cannot test for titers for that. Since I waited until a week after his 7th birthday he was not allowd to get the vacine anyway. So I didn't have to fight anything. My 13yo only needs the tetnus. Can you test for titer for just the tetnus? My dr believes in vacines but if I give him an alternative he will work with me. Guest guest
My 5 yr. old had titers drawn for D, T and P. they are 3 separate- so yes, you can titer T only. The law will not grant an exemption ( in GA anyway) for titers on DTP, but you can get them drawn.... Re: Tetnus booster --- My doctor has tested for titers on my 7yo for all vacinines except DTAP. Guest guest
The tetanus booster is grown on casein. This also goes for the portion in the DTP and DTaP. Anyone who is allergy or on the GFCF or casein free (milk) diet should not have this vaccine. Per Glaxo Kline. You can call Glaxo Kline 888-825-5249 and request a 8 1/2 by 11 copy to review all things in the vaccine before you allow the doctor to vaccinate your child. The insert does not state if your child is allergy to milk (casein). They feel they are covering themselves under Contraindications it states " Hypersensitivity to any component of the vaccine is a contraindication. The nurse who works for Glaxo confirmed the casein issue. I asked about the formaldehyde. I would think most children be allergy to formaldehyde? She did not know what to say. Doctors are not knowledgeable on how vaccine are made. Every doctor I have asked about this has no clue about the casein allergy issue. Including the chairman (doctor) for the Immunnization Safety Board for the Unites State of America. The same board who recommends what vaccines our children receive at what age and when. Guest guest
Yes. Unfortunate, but there it is. The bacteria is nasty, but some just wait for an incident, ex. stepping on a rusty nail.
