Culturelle: intolerance or die-off?

Last week I started my 17 mo son on Culturelle. I gave him 1/5 of a

capsule at dinner for 5 days. Each night he would wake aound 11:30

p.m. and would be fussy for about an hour, crying, kicking his legs,

bouncing up and down on his bottom and grabbing his private parts.

On the fifth night he screamed for 2 hours then was wide awake until

4:30 a.m. When he wasn't crying the last 3 hours he was a happy boy,

not the sreaming, crying boy that I saw the first 2 hours.

One nightI massaged his legs thinking it could be growing pains. Do

babies have those? It helped one night but not the others.

I have given him Culturelle in the past in 1/2 doses but not

consistently and did not see this type of behavior.) He did not have

Culturelle the last 2 nights and slept like a log. Could this be die-

off of some kind or intolerance? What's with the bouncing up and

down on his bottom and grabbing his diaper? I checked him for

pinworms...none. He didn't have the red ring around his bottom so I

don't think it was yeast plus I had given him GSE for 2 days 2 weeks

ago. How long can I wait before I try Culturelle again?

Try giving the same dose of Culturelle earlier in the day. It could

be that giving it so close to bedtime was keeping him up and thus he

got fussy because he was tired and couldn't get to sleep. Any die-off

might be better tolerated in the day because he can run around and

use up the energy. This happens with other things too.

You can also try epsom salts bath on the days you give Culturelle and

see if this helps with any detoxing.

My son did not tolerate Culturelle unless he had a bacteria problem.

Once the bacteria was gone, he did not tolerate Culturelle.

What's with the bouncing up and

For my son, this would mean he did not tolerate something.

My son also didn't tolerate culturelle at all. Perhaps he had no bacteria

problems.
