Guest guest
Hope, Could it be that he is actually excreted some lead stored up in his body and it is just coming out more now? Sometimes high excretion means the body is getting rid of it and sometimes it means the body is 'wasting' something and not absorbing it well. Haven't ever gotten a good explanation of when it is which one. If you have been doing much detox measures and other items have been coming out, it might just be lead's turn. . Guest guest
He could be excreting lead, and his behavior wouldn't necessarily improve, especially not right away. The actual process of excreting toxins is hard on the body -- think dumping poison through a garden -- and often it's a three steps forward/two steps back kind of thing. It kind of depends on where it's being excreted. If it's through the intestines (in poop), it tends to be harder on the intestinal flora, often causing some gut bugs and dysbiosis to flare up. If it's through the kidneys (urine), or skin or hair, there don't tend to be as many behavioral issues, unless those channels are blocked, i.e. kidneys not functioning well, which would cause a buildup of toxins there. Chelators strip minerals along with metals, and mineral depletion can also cause behavior issues. If behavior isn't good, try adding more minerals, and make sure he drinks lots of fluids and has daily bowel movements. You don't want those toxins having any trouble getting out! Guest guest
Thanks Terri. That makes so much sense! My son needed an entirely different diet than most autistic kids, and did not tolerate most supplements until about round 50 of ALA chelation. Have you considered anti-viral for your child? Lead " leaches " , so it might mean that he has current exposures, or it might mean that his body is clearing the lead so it is showing more in the blood. >>Calcium is also low even though > he gets supplements and tons of calcium in his food. Calcium is low in hair, blood, or where? Do you give the calcium with magnesium? It is not well absorbed unless taken with magnesium. > Why is his lead going up? You can check for sources of current exposures here http://www.danasview.net/metals.htm Two ideas that just popped into my mind are bathtub glazes and mini-blinds. You can go to Home Depot or other similar store and purchase a home lead test kit. Dana
