Hi : I have started this with my son about 2 months now. I saw the

ups & downs behavior up until this past week. This week was great-Very

mellow. I started with 1/4 at each meal of the Peptizde and Prime Zyme. I

gradually added up. I thing alot of people started with just the one

enzyme. I guess about 4 weeks in (not sure I have it written down but not

in front of me) I started Candex and Culturelle for the yeast/bacteria. I

jumped right in with these and I think it caused more of a problem so I

backed off. Then restarted a few weeks later and much like the enzymes I

gave smaller dose and built up. I am seeing some yeast issues (at least I

think they are) still, circle walking, head covering, hand flapping, etc.

My son reacted the same way with the enzymes but not as quickly as yours.

First week was no changes at all. Then he got cranky, hyper, anger,

aggressive, growling, irritable. I rode it out-It took till this past week

for that stuff to go away. So you might want to reduce the dose maybe to

1/4 each meal and add up from there. I hope this helps. My son had the BM

greenish blue also. Think it was yeast. He has some smelly ones still.

I'm still pretty new at this myself, and others may know differently, but if

I were guessing I might say that he didn't have enough of the AFP not that

he had too much (b/c you say the behavior only lasted 30 minutes). My

daughter didn't seem to have any reactions, but I noticed for myself when I

started taking it that if I didn't have enough, it would cause gas and a

generally upset stomach and cramps - seemed like there wasn't enough of it

in the stomach to do the job. Maybe someone else will say differently.

As for the yellowy stringy poops - my daughter had these when we started and

it went on for a couple of weeks and I was beside myself posting here for

answers! Everyone reminded me that the protease enzymes not only digest the

food but are good at cleaning out the gut lining from all the gunk that is

there so things can look pretty weird while that is happening. Also, you're

right. Yellow stringy poops are often a sign of yeast. Our yellow stringy

poop problem resolved when I upped our yeast protocol and upped the doses of

the ZP and AFP. But it took a couple of weeks to sort everything out.

And (though this isn't directly related to your question) we still have a

poop problem in that consistency is good and color is good but they are not

coming daily anymore. For us I am pretty sure this is diet-related though

as my daughter still self-limits food and wont try many of the things she

should eat and I haven't been able to break her of the " ACD - The All Carb

Diet " let alone try " SCD! " - and a number of the things I took out of her

diet to get her GFCF had fiber in them. I have " challenged " the gluten part

of GFCF by adding a few fiber rich but " trace " gluten containing products.

It has helped some with the poops - but not entirely.

Also I just want to say that these enzymes are worth the trouble. There are

a lot of knowledgeable people on this list and they will help you get

through the adjustment period. So don't fret!!

AFP question

Hi-

I have been experimenting with AFP all week with my son. Mostly I have

been giving it at night with his supper so that I can observe any

reactions or improvements. Today being Saturday, I gave him 1/2 cap of

AFP with each meal and experienced a major meltdown within a 30 minute

period of giving the enzyme. The behavior/grouchiness/anger would last

about 30 minutes and then subside.

My questions are:

1) Would this be peptide withdrawal?

2) Should I give a smaller dose of AFP with each meal?

3)Should I try a different brand of enzyme?

4) If I continue with AFP, how long will this last?

Also, his bms are very stringy and strange in color--either yellow,

greenish or bluish. I've read that that could indicate yeast. If so,

when do I

add in probiotics or Candex?

I've failed so many times with these type of alternative treatments from

rushing in with everything at once, and so I am trying to be very slow

and careful this time...

Thanks!

All of the above might be possible.

It also might be OTHER foods that are causing a reaction, that the AFP

is not addressing.

Can be yeast, or other foods he does not tolerate.

You can add probiotics or Candex any time you want.
