Guest guest
A little bit of baking soda works really well. 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon is usually plenty for us. I give my son a little when he gets 'burning' in his stomach (happens at times around bedtime). I fill empty gel capsules or swirl some in some liquid. I take that too. . p.s. My last few posts haven't posted, so if stuff starts appearing in triplicate, sorry.

Guest guest
Tom I hesitated to write, but thought I would, even tho I've not had these problems, so take it for what it's worth.. Motrin and Aspirin can easily irritate the lining of your stomach and then the normal acid goes to work on the exposed area. Have you tried enteric coated ones (that way they would dissolve in the intestines)? Possibly always make sure and take them with food. Doxy can also create stomach upset if not taken with food and water. I've read that gastric reflux is improved greatly with digestive enzymes. I've also read that lemon juice/cider vinegar-(I put about 1teaspoon of lemon concentrate per glass of water in the am) in water will aid in the digestion- the stomach acids help the pancreas release it's digestive enzyme. BUT I've never had major problems with my stomach either. I've also read that many times instead of decreasing the stmach acid it needs to be increased-for digestive purposes. Imagine you will need to read up on this and see what fits your own health.Mercola has alot of info, imagine you could google stomach and go from there. Again, read up on digestive enzymes- I really think they're a very good thing. Have to use common sense with what you read and see how it fits for you- good luck Rose Marie > > Hi Group...It sounds like I'm grasping at straws, but I've been thinking about this lately, so I wanted to put it out for feedback. Around 4 years ago, one of my EX-PCP's put me on strong stomach acid medicine to prevent my body from manufacturing acid. I believe a lot of the stomach sensitivity I had was due to me taking Motrin & aspirin to self medicate my Lyme headaches - 2 things my EX's couldn't diagnose --> migraines or Lyme. Anyway, they patched me up with daily doses of Prevacid (or other strong stomach acid meds), which I've been taking daily ever since. I'm currently reviewing my meds, and trying to stop the ones that are not essential. I've stopped all allergy meds (another sets of meds my EX's had me on, trying to treat my Lyme symptoms without diagnosing Lyme), and last week I stopped the stomach acid meds (I've had to take 1/2 a Pepcid 2 times), but my acid problem isn't nearly as bad as it used to be (I've also tried to quit taking Motrin & aspirin). Here's my question - I wonder what stopping the production of stomach acid may have done to my Lyme Disease, if anything? I know that stomach acid is powerful stuff - I'd think it should be strong enough to kill spirochetes in the gut. > > I've been on my new regime of Ceftin & Doxy for 6 days now, and I've been feeling pretty well. I'm in the middle of cleaning the house right now. I might also be feeling better by getting some of the prescription meds out of my system.
