Here's my Feingold advicve, FWIW. I would commit to the whole thing for six

weeks, taking out corn syrup and sodium benzoate too. Everyone will probably

feel a lot better, depending on what your diet is like now. Then after the 6

weeks is up you can add the real foods back one at a time and see what's OK and

what's not.

I found shopping off the list of safe processed food to be a major pain,

although the Feingold people are definitely right that labels aren't to be

trusted. Once I made the leap to eating almost no processed food at all,

shopping and

cooking got a lot easier, and everyone started feeling better. I thought we

were eating a pretty healthy diet before; it's amazing how much junk creeps in

if you're not careful. Good luck!

Salicylates are one type of phenol. No-Fenol worked for my son for

most phenols, so you can definitely consider it. For some kids,

No-Fenol works instead of Feingold, other kids still need certain

phenols removed, so might still need Feingold.

Dana,

Wow! I did not know that salicylates are a type of phenol. I didn't see that

in my Feingold materials (unless I missed it). Everything makes much more sens

to me now and as I move out of Stage One, I will be sure to use No Fenol as I

introduce natural salicylates back into my kid's diets. Let me ask you, do any

of the enzymes help with corn syrup sensitivities? MSG? Benzoates? Nitrates?

Sulfur agents?

Thanks! KIM

Not Dana, but my son reacts badly to corn syrup, msg, nitrites, and sulfites

-- and No-Fenol doesn't seem to make any difference. At least none of those is

actal food so I feel fine about excluding them.

Some kids can use No-Fenol with those items, but my son still could

not have them, even with enzymes, until about round 70 of chelation.

Now he can have them, but I do limit how much he gets.
