Carpenter ants follow termites in many cases. If they are ghost or sugar ants, I use boric acid but I don't know about natural remedies. If you know where they are coming in, you can seal that opening. Diatomaceous earth will kill them, if you can keep your kids and pets away from it. Boric acid is *supposed* to work, but all it did is feed my colony, so you can try it if you want but watch for increased activity. I wish I had more info for you.
