My daughter had these problems this summer when she was getting 1 cap

NF at all 3 meals. We never figured out if it was yeast die-off or

yeast flare-up. She did get the very red ring around her anus and

eventually her butt started really itching. It was a really

difficult time for me so I'm sorry you have to go through this. I

think the bath must have been hurting my daughter's butt and that's

why we got the temper tantrums when it was time for a bath. We

reduced the NF to just breakfast and the problems went away. While

we worked our way through figuring out what the underlying cause was

and correcting it we went back to picture schedules, keeping

routines, and making sure she had enough sleep and food.

Best Wishes!

Becky

Hi,

I'm not , but we had a little experience with meds working and then

stopping. We tried my daughter on Prozac and then Luvox. Both seemed to help

some with OCD and anxiety for a bit then they almost seemed to make things

worse, especially if we tried increasing the dose.

Both of these meds seemed to have an agitation factor that kicked in after a

while. We just recently put her back on Zoloft and have not seen any of this. It

has helped take the edge off her anxiety and OCD. She is on 50mg a day, which

isn't terribly high considering she is 13 and weighs about 115 pounds.

We were having bad meltdowns kind of like you describe this summer. The

combination of enzymes and the Zoloft have really helped. I think each child

responds differently to particular medications. It's all trial and error isn't

it?

Zeb has been having increasing number of meltdowns, my husband and I

are at the end of our ropes. We try talking, hugging, ignoring and

sad to say spanking(only when he has kicked me), time out and taking

away his favorite things(this helps a little). The simplist thing

can start the meltdown like it's time to come upstairs and get a

bath, most nights this goes great and for some reason one night all

hell breaks lose. He starts crying, saying I don't want a bath, I do

want a bath,I don;t, and on and on. Some times he gets hysterical

there is no reasoning with him, no talking to him, he can't say

what's wrong only that he is sad and he wants to have good behavior,

some times he gets aggressive and lays in the floor and screams and

kicks, occasionally hits or kicks me, throws something down. When it

is finally over he will say, I love you, sorry, " You want to have

good behavior " , " I don't want to be sad " . I feel like he can't help

these episodes but I want them to stop and help him deal with things

better, to be able to reason with him. Any suggestions would be

greatly appreciated.

This question is for . Zeb has been on Paxil for 2 years now

for OCD and Anxiety and helped greatly. It seems to be not so

helpful now and he has also grown alot since his last increase in

dose but the doc want go any higher on the dose. Does Zoloft help

with the OCD's , I know it is good for anxiety, I'm thinking of

asking for a switch.

I also ask a few days ago about Zeb pushing his head against his

T.V., radios, toys, ect.. any suggestions on why he could be doing

this?

If I were you I would have his eyes checked by a special eye doctor that

prescribes prism lens glasses that can correct problems if he has one. My

grandson had the problem with meltdowns until he got his glasses. His eyes

would fatigue and cause behavior and learning problems. He lost his glasses

a week ago and is starting to come back. We have ordered new ones.

This may not be the problem, but is worth checking on.

I also highly recommend that all kids have their eyes checked by an

optometrist that understands tracking, convergence, etc. My daughter

also made tremendous gains when she got glasses (she is very far

sited). We watched her change over the next 6-9 months due to

getting glasses at 2 1/2. We now know that all the problems started

because her vision started diminishing by 14 months. If her eyes had

been checked when the problems started I don't believe she would have

a diagnosis of autism. We then did a guided vision development

program (preschool vision therapy) that also helped her make

tremendous gains (just before she turned 4). I don't believe she

meets the autism criteria anymore. We still have a ways to go

though. I wish that recommending getting eyes checked was more

standard-when she got glasses I heard from many people who worked

with us that they thought she could see fine and had no idea that she

couldn't.

Best Wishes
