Do you have a nasal sprayer you could put water in? Would putting

him in a very steamy shower help?

I put him in the shower. It actually seems to have helped some. His

voice is pretty raspy now though. I'm just scared that it could do

some damage to the lung tissue. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Wende

Hi Wende;

The enzymes will not damage his lungs, there is plenty of mucus and fluid there

to wash

away any enzyme that made it there. His throat is raspy because the fresh layer

of tissue

cells are probably exposed (the protease enzymes can debride the dead tissue

layer on

top) and it is just irritated.

The shower is a good idea.

A saline solution sprayed into the nose several times may help as well.

He should be fine. We do caution that enzymes not be inhaled, which is why we

add

things like rice bran or MCT oil, to keep the dust from being airborne.

Has he had a similar reaction when actually taking the enzymes? I

have discovered I am allergic to my son's enzymes though I'm not sure

if it is the Peptizyde or Zyme Prime (SCD versions). All I know is

when I open the capsules, I cough, sneeze, get watery eyes and have

difficulty breathing. I have never taken them though one time when I

made them into chocolates, I licked my finger. I had such a hard

time breathing my husband wanted to take me to emergency. If your

son takes them and doesn't have a reaction he is probably not

allergic but I just wanted to warn you if he has never taken them and

you saw a reaction with him breathing the powder, I would suggest you

proceed carefully.

Dr. Houston:

I just have to thank you for taking the time to actually call my home

today to check on my son. You definitely went out of your way to

take the time to figure out who I was, what our phone number was and

then make the call. Thank you so much!
