Can you give me any reason to hope my son could tolerate Brainchild zinc? If so, I may try it. Just as a warning, my son is tremendously sensitive. Out of several hundred children in his DAN dr's care, he says my son is among the top four in sensitivity. About two years ago he suggested I give 20 mg of Kirkman's Liquid Zinc (forgot now which formulation this was) five days in a row just to see what would happen. Day one - hyper. Day two, crazy hyper, shaking his left hand. Day three - Shaking his left hand every few minutes. Needless to say, I stopped at day three. The hand shaking took a week to go away. No question at all it was zinc related, as I tried Kirkman's zinc again later and got the hand shaking again. He can take maybe 7-8 mg zinc per day in a multi vitamin without problem. Suggestions welcome. Thanks, Debbie
Guest guest
the kirkmans liquid zinc is alhpa keto glutatrate or something which is a glutamine precursor and sound dubious, i don't know why kirkmans use it................. zinc methionine and zinc gluconate seem well tolerated bascially i am not keen on liquid supplements at all, basically the preservation issues are overwhelming. zinc methionine seems very well absorbed, i use the source naruals optizinc but i also take source naturals copper sebacate 'minerals i take' in the index of http://tinyurl.com/2csa3 > In a message dated 6/29/2004 9:45:12 PM Central Daylight Time, > terri@m... writes: > > > > > > Did you try Brainchild's zinc as one of these, Debbie? Guest guest
Hi Debbie, Well, yes, I think it might be worth trying. For one thing, since it's liquid, you can initially dose it in *very* tiny amounts, with an eyedropper, if you want. We strive for excellent absorption and bioavailability, and would like to work with you on this and see if we can help your son tolerate it. Most liquids have issues with the often artificial or phenolic stuff used for sweetening and flavoring, and we try to avoid these problems in all our liquids. Pills and caps are harder for the body to break down, which may contribute to side effects seen as well. Our goal is for our supplements to be well tolerated by the most sensitive kids, and we have a high success rate. We do have small trial size bottles, which is all you'd need for quite awhile, probably, as we'd suggest that you introduce it very, very slowly. I will write you more off list.
