Guest guest
Hi, I can share some secondhand experience with you. A friend of mine has a 6 1/2 year old, dx PDD-NOS, who has been GFCF since he was 19 months old. He is highly sensative to taboo foods (accidental infraction used to result in barely delayed vomiting, then diarrhea and " behavioral mayhem " as she called it, for about four days. He is still gfcf, but in the last year, he began Peptizyde (1 cap for each of the three major meals) with good results. Now, he eats nongfcf foods once a month for special occasions (birthday parties, etc) and takes 3 caps worth beforehand. So far, four months' worth of no issues. Very cautious, but her son was SEVERELY affected, and I understand her concern! This is a protocol we would consider once we have the language thing under control. I gave him his enzymes prior to the pizza - so now I'm just waiting...waiting for any kind of reaction. It's been over twelve hours and he seems fine. Everything seems like it always is - he's happy, his eye contact is great - and the words are still coming. Does anyone know how long an infraction would take? What about some signs that I would see? I wasn't going to even try an infraction this early (he's only been on Houston enzymes for 7 weeks, but GFCF 8 mos) but, as soon as he saw the pizza, he kept saying it. Is this how I should go about planned infractions - giving him little pieces at a time - and then wait a few days before trying again? And, should he get a full cap of each enzyme even w/ a snack infraction? > Thanks for any advice with this. > Maribeth > > >

However, for a small snack, 1/2 capsule is probably sufficient for most kids. Dana
