If you start the fish oil too high, it can cause hyper. His body is used to the

amount it has- add too much too fast, and his body does not know what to do with

it

Does Enzymes = Hyper?

Hi all,

We just started our 2yr old son on fish oils (6days ago) and enzymes

(2days ago)... is there any chance that either of these would cause

hyperactivity, or is it just coincedence?

Thanks!

The enzymes can cause hyperactivity. It might be 'positive'

hyperactivity or 'negative' hyperactivity. Positive hyperness is when

the child is basically happy but has a lot of energy. He or she runs

around, is ready to play, play, play, but not destructive. Enzymes

can improve health and so now the kid has tons of energy now that he

or she feels better.

Negative hyperness is when the child is whining, fussy, aggressive,

being destructive and generally has a bad temperament. This can be

die-off, gut cleaning, detox, or not tolerating something they are

taking (either the enzymes or another supplement that the child

wasn't absorbing so you didn't know it wasn't tolerated, but now the

enzymes are helping the gut to absorb it and you see advserse

reactions).

Sometimes the person really feels much better with enzymes, but all

the sensory input is different. The person needs time to adjust to

the new sensory sensations.

What is your son doing when you feel he is being hyper? Besides the

hyperness, what else is he doing differently?

I'm happy to say that it's definately been the " positive "

hyperactivity. He's a happy kid in general, but just seems to have

more energy, is doing more running around than usual, and just plain

happy & giggling. At this point, it hasn't interfered with his

sleeping, which has always been good - thank God! I haven't really

noticed anything else in particular that he's been doing

differently. He's being more verbal, but I noticed that was

happening just before we started him on the enzymes... but maybe

it's moving it along? Also, he's not a huge eater, so I've only been

giving him 1 capsule per meal for now.

Another thing I was curious about it that how the enzymes are

working... should he be taking them even if he is already on the

GFCF diet? Or are they just for infractions only? I know I should've

asked my dr. this, but all these questions are suddenly occuring to

me.

Today we start the GI Flora as well... so, I'm curious to see how

that all turns out.

Either of them can cause hyper.
