For my son this is yeast. Are you keeping sugar as low as possible? Nell
Guest guest
I would suspect yeast, keep going. Yeasy toxins contain alcohol like substance, drunk is a good description, Sam used to do this so I;ve been thee and have the T-shirt MAndi in UK > Today he had 4 good bowel movements but was toe-walking tons. Guest guest
My son had 2 really good days the likes of which we had not seen since the early days of his regression. He was much happier, talking more, babbling with expression, tolerating our company and eye contact was so beautiful. Today he had 4 good bowel movements but was toe-walking tons. Tonight he went into drunk mode which he often does in the evenings. He giggles too much, runs in circles and generally seems drunk. What is going on in his body and why does he get in this state? It scares me to watch it. Hope
Guest guest
He does not get much sugar and had none today. Is yeast worse at night? This usually happens before bedtime. What does he usually eat for supper, or take any supplements in the evening? Look at if you are giving him something that might promote yeast OR no giving something that fights off yeast...for example, if you gave enzymes, anti-fungals, or GSE in the day but not in the evening. The 'drunk' behavior is often yeast because alcohol is one of the yeast by-products - like in brewing beverages. .
Guest guest
I really spent a lot of time trying to figure out why my daughter's " drunk " state always happened at night. But it was like she would build it during the day, and then a trigger would go off at 7:00. I think it was Dana who put it best that it is an accumulation, and night the slightest thing can tip the scale and set things off. Even on good days, we have to wait until the evening to see if it was really a " good " day. Know the drunk state too well. Good luck, Kari What are we doing wrong? Drunk again My son had 2 really good days the likes of which we had not seen since the early days of his regression. Guest guest
Thanks for your posts everyone. They made me think. There is nothing in his diet that would promote yeast except 1 serving of fruit per day (we are SCD) and he didn't have that yesterday. We tend to give him most of his supplements with dinner - vitamins, minerals, enzymes, EFAs. We also give him yogurt (SCD goat) with probiotic in it before bed. We recently upped the yogurt amount because we really thought it might be responsible for the increased eye contact, speech. We also give him yogurt in the morning. Last night he did not want his dinner but he had eaten a lot during the day. When we tested him in the summer he tested higher in bacteria than yeast and the only abnormal yeast marker was Aribanose. He had been on Nystatin for a while and I continued him on it for several more months until I decided to stop because it didn't seem to be doing anything. I just had this hypothesis that the yogurt was really helping to kill off the bacteria and that was the improvement we saw but then all this dead bacteria was sitting around and somehow hurting him or becoming food for the yeast. Does this make sense to anyone? Any ideas of what we could do to get it out? Hope

EFAs make my son goofy. >>He had > been on Nystatin for a while and I continued him on it for several > more months until I decided to stop because it didn't seem to be doing > anything. Nystatin does not address all strains of yeast. Dana
