Ditto everything andrew says. Enzymedica products are very good, but

Houston Neutraceuticals Inc. are proving more effective for most

people on enzyme therapy. See www.houstonni.com

I would encourage you to contact Dr. Devin Houston by phone or e-mail

and discuss where you might start with enzymes for your particular

issues. He participates on this board and is very generous with his

time and advice. I'm sure he would have some ideas that might be

helpful. Good luck.

You are just fine and definitely in the right place. It isn't just

for kids or just autism and I am glad you considered trying it.

Welcome!

Could be detox effect as you noted. How much did you take at the very

beginning? Is this the Digest product or the Digest Gold? Those are

two different formulations. Also, were there any other effects at all

besides the discomfort you mentioned. Anything postive at all?

Anything else negative at all? Sorry to ask so many questions in

return, but this would be helpful.

>>>The Digest formula has a ton of different enzymes.

Yes, sometimes it is fine for an all-in-one type product but other

times specific targeting is much better. There is a general stair-

step guidelines developed and often recommended in this group because

many people had reactions like yours. Enzymedica is a good brand and

they have assorted specialty ones too you can consider. Houston

enzymes are excellent and many use those in a targeted manner. Here

is that site you can look at:

www.houstonni.com

One more question and I will wait for your answer: How are the

enzymes affecting your digestion at all?

Thank you for the responses. I took the regular Digest formula at 3x

per day with meals (not the Gold formula). My digestion problems

tend to be intermittent, so hard to tell if there was any change

there. No other negative effects. It might have been my imagination

but it did seem like my skin (especially my face) looked healthier

after just 2 days.

asked about Amalgam fillings. Yes I do (a lot!!). I've asked

several dentists about the health risk there, but they always assure

me there's no evidence to warrant concern. I'm not too familiar with

flouride exposure risks. I drink mainly bottled water, but do use

regular Crest toothpaste. Do a lot of people in this group do the

hair test? What's the cost for this? Any specific labs

recommended? Thanks again for all the feedback (nice group of people

here :).

I really apologize for leaving this question off before. You said

some supplements before caused problems for you. What were they?

There might be a similar ingredient in the Digest enzymes.

Did reducing the dose from 3 capsules to one help reduce the

discomfort at all?

Thanks,

.

P.S. andrew likes the hair test but I don't think everyone does it. I

haven't because I am not convinced of exactly what it would tell me.

It may be a general indicator of general levels at specfic points in

time, but it doesn't say what pathways exactly might be a problem, or

what exactly is causing the mineral levels, or what exactly to do

about it. Lots of guesswork and generalizations, if that is what you

need. It is an option and test that is out there to consider.

basically you are mercury posioned. selenium is the best quick fix

check out selenium in 'minerals i take' in the index of

http://tinyurl.com/2csa3

if you would like to see the problems of mercury in thier full glory

look at the two mercruy video downloads towards the bottom on the

page on

http://tinyurl.com/3h5hl

they take a while to download but i really suggest you look at them

or you will never get motivated or sure enough to know the dentists

are mercury toxic themslves and deluded.

fluoride is a strong enzyme depressant and toothpaste is a problem.

adult chelation is a disaster, don't be tempted.

amalgam removal is not a straightforward issue either,

in 'dentistry' in the same index as 'minerals i take' there is some

info on this. its not necessarily the worst option to wait until the

filings are loose before removing them, plenty of people on the net

have made themsleves considerably worse by ham fisted attempts

to 'detox' and remove.

bottled water can have bacteria issues. some brands are much better

than others.

your hair test will be a mess with amalgams, better to wait until

they have been out for a while.

The dosage reduction of the Enzymedica Digest formula didn't seem to

help reduce side affects. After taking 3x per day for 2 days, I quit

altogether for a couple days & then took just 1 cap with dinner. The

single dose caused the same level of uncomfortable reaction that I

experienced at the end of day 2. I'm not criticizing Enzymedica

products at all. I have problems with a variety of things

(antihistamines, caffeine, spicey food). I followed 's advice

& sent an email to Dr. Houston. He wrote back today suggesting I try

the Zyme Prime formulation (the SCD version, not the original). He

said it is low protease, but is higher in enzymes that break down

carbs and fats. He mentioned if I did well with that I might want to

try adding a single protease (like bromelain). I really appreciated

him taking the time to answer my questions & am looking forward to

trying his products. Thanks again to everyone for all the

comments/suggestions :).
