Guest guest
I am a beginner to this whole enzyme thing, but recently started both my 6 y/o daughter and my 3 y/o son on enzymes after reading " Enzymes and Autism " . Both of my children are on the spectrum. I have been giving HN Zyme Prime for several days and added Peptizide on Sunday. Both children get one capsule of each before each meal. With my daughter, we really haven't noticed too much in the way of side-effect....maybe some extra emotional rollercoastering and she hasn't been constipated for once. She gets a capsule of each 3 times a day with breakfast, lunch and supper. My son gets a capsule of each 4 times a day. He is 100% tube fed and gets 3 boluses during the day and is fed continuously overnight. Starting Monday, he is having very loose stools that smell un-Godly bad several times a day (he still wears diapers). This morning, he threw up right before I got him up for the day, but was his usual happy self and wasn't running a fever. Now tonight he has thrown up twice so far but the smell (sorry if this grosses anyone out!) of the vomit is very different than normal. Usually, when he throws up it smells like sour vanilla because of his formula, but this time it had an entirely different smell....possibly more yeast-y? Is this a yeast die-off happening? Should I continue as is or should I remove the Peptizide for a few days? The loose stools are causing him to get a very red and sore bottom so I am concerned with that. I wouldn't be suprised if he has a terrible yeast problem because he has been on antibiotics so many times in his life because of his medical problems. Any ideas on what I should do? Guest guest
Hi: Yeast could very well be a factor in your son's case. And I'm sure someone else will have more advice than I could offer about his situation. When it comes to your daughter, though, I wanted to mention that if she is taking the actual capsules (as opposed to lose powder), they often need to be given a good 20 minutes or so before the meal to give the capsules time to disintegrate in enough time to catch the food. Could be why you havent seen much in the way of die-off with her. Also, you say she is getting capsules w/her meals but she would need them with any snacks as well in order to get maximum effect (depending on timing) Also, did I read right that you started w/full capsules? Sometmes it's easier to start w/ 1/4th or 1/2 of a capsule and work up... Josie Yeast die-off? Guest guest
My son did not tolerate the Pep until I had a better suppliment program going for him (i.e. no Super Nu Thera) - and even then I started with sprinkles and worked him up to a whole capsule. Guest guest
Yes, Pep can give die-off. Some people can even feel flue like symptoms from it. talks about this in her book. And Pep is effective at cleaning out gunk from the gut and helpful for overall gut healing even if you aren't using it to help digest gluten or casein. Yeast die-off? I am not sure that is what this is, but has anyone had die-off strictly from enzymes? I only just began giving my 2 year old asd son peptizyde on Thursday. He instantly formed nice firm stools after his whole life of runny or soft stools. Today he seemed fine, then last diaper change was soft with TONS of undigested food in it. His behind also had the red spots that quick of yeast (he has had yeast diaper rash many times). Is this die-off? Thanks, Laurie
