Where are you at? I'm looking for a good doc with kaiser.

Connie, Schlager at San Francisco Kaiser is okay. His reputation is excellent. I'm seeing him in a couple of weeks.

Harper,

Thank you. You mentioned him before and I asked Devin's GI if we should see him. Dr. Applebaum said that he is a good doc, in fact he was his personal MD for awhile but he deals more with Dr. Cannon in Sac. He is the one who did the bx. He was very much how you discribed Schlager...not a hand holder and sort of blunt. He told Devin right off the bat that some kids do ok with medication and some kids don't, the ones that don't end up having a transplant. It was a very cold way to explain what might happen for a teenager who is new to all of this.

Hi Connie - I hope you don't mind me jumping in. also was seeing a

Gastoenologist who was not use to working with kids. She did not like him at

all. Eventually I found a Doctor who had a lot of experience with young people

with AIH. He is very sensitive to her feelings. My daughter has a lot of

respect for him which in return makes her feel that she has a part of her

treatment. It's important to find a knowledgable Dr. but working with children

or Teenagers is different than working with Adults. I happen to feel keeping

them mentally healthy is as important as keeping them physically healthy. They

have different issues than adults. Just my thought.

Kris,

How long did you give the AFP a try? My son initially reacted to it as well

as the no-fenol. After about a week the reactions subsided. What kind of

reactions did you get?
