Guest guest
>>>>Anyone have any input on primal defence (good or bad and how much to give) I see this question wasn't addressed. Primal Defense is by Garden of Life and they have some pretty interesting whole-food products. A little pricey in the stores but there are better prices online. Primal Defense sort of has a reputation of being totally awesome (people have these life altering experiences), or not tolerated at all no matter how low and slow the person goes. Not much in-between. A local person who knows the company and sells their products says that is the feedback she gets as well. Don't know why it is so extreme either way. It has some 'different' things in the mix besides a very nice assortment of probiotics. Even though it doesn't have the highest number of organisms on the label, there may be something synergistic about the mix, or the whole-food base, that allows the microbes to 'take' and proliferate better than other straight probiotics in capsules. I haven't used the Primal Defense, but did like the Perfect Food product. The customer service from the company isn't that great from my experience and others. If you are having gut problems and don't have a favorite probiotic, it is likely worth one container as a trial. .
Guest guest
, I very much agree with your synopsis here. We are one of those families who have had fantastic results with PD. I do rotate probiotics, but this product I give continually. Just to add a bit... The maker of this product had chrones disease- and he did a great deal of research on homeostatic soil organisms - which makes this product a bit different than your regular run-of-the-mill probiotic. This man was emaciated- almost dead. He healed himself using SCD diet, some other products he developed- " Perfect Food " , and PD. PD was the very first thing we gave him as far as suppliments. It was like someone plopped a different kid inside my sons body. He later had his roller coaster ride of regression and progress- but he is metal toxic.... So, par for the course. Guest guest
I really like Primal Defense so far. I started giving it to all 3 of my kids about 2 wks ago. My three yr. old has never had a nice formed poop, but since starting this (1 scoop) a day he has nice formed stools!! YEAH!!! Initially, I started with Primadolphillus (sp?) with Reuteri from Nature's Way and he had a nice die off of yeast (pimples on skin and tantrums, irritability). Then his DAN doc. recc. Probiogold, so I started giving him that. Then he had a stool test which showed no lactobacillus and an overgrowth of staph. aureus. So I figured the Probiogold wasn't for him, it wasn't doing much for his gut. Then someone on this list recc'd. Primal Defense. So far so good, however, I havent' had his stool retested yet. But I'm thinking it's doing something good because of his stools. Guest guest
>>>>research on homeostatic soil organisms - which makes this product a bit different than your regular run-of-the-mill probiotic. For anyone wondering what homeostatic soil organisms are...it is a catchy way to say 'balanced organisms'. The soil part is basically because these microbes are those found in the soil as well as helpful in the gut. I read on these a bit as I have a background in soil fertility and wondered what this was about. Primal Defense is basically a mix of many probiotics and their 'food' source. Think of it like compost. It is the microbes in the soil that turn dead plants and animals into nice organic matter to enrich the soil - makes top soil. This is the process by which dead crud of all sorts is transformed into nutrients optimal for plant nutrition. So if you took the same environment of good microbes in soil which transforms crud into a rich fertile environment that promotes growth, and put that, or re-created it, in your gut, then your gut environment could transform all the crud there into a nutrient-rich and healthy place promoting growth. Primal Defense not only includes this balance of 20 different microbe strains, but also a number of things they call phytoplankton, grasses, and organic matter (that is, green carbon rich organic plant sources for the microbes to feed on, use as raw materials, grow on, and be protected by) as it gets going in your gut. It also says to include some enzymes, trace minerals, and other odds and ends to facility the microbe colonization. It is natural microbes as a whole- food source. I wouldn't be surprised is Primal Defense smelled like compost either, LOL. .
