Zinc & Sleep

Hello,

My son is 2.9 ASD. He is doing pretty well and making progress. He

currently takes all 3 HNI enzymes at each meal and snack. He also

takes Brainchilds Vitamins and Minerals (SSII with PAK). He has

been ultra sensitive in the past to supps. We give a little

additional mag during the day. We also have tried numerous

probiotics and he didn't tolerate most of them. Currently we are

trying CP-1 and he seems to do OK on that (at least his stools were

firming up) but he was a little more stimmy. The one area that is

still a problem for us is sleep. It is much better since starting

Brainchilds, but he still doesn't sleep all night. Most nights, he

is up 1-2 times. Usually, he comes to get me and I lay with him and

he will typically go back to sleep pretty quickly. As we get

towards morning (around 5:00 a.m.), when he wakes up, he is very

fidgety. Can't lay still yet he is so tired and almost sleeps

through his fidgeting. I would really love to help him sleep better

because I think it will help his focus during the day. One supp

that was highly recommended for him to take was zinc. We have tried

numerous zinc supps and each one causes his reflux to return (and

with a vengence) so we stopped. The Brainchild Minerals have zinc

but I am considering adding additional zinc to see if that will

help. Does zinc help with sleep? Any ideas on how to improve

sleep? I've looked at Melatonin supps but each time I go to buy one

and I read the back, there is a great big warning about not giving

it to children. Also, the zinc supp I am looking into is the

Brainchilds Liquid Zinc. Any comments on that is also appreciated.

Thanks!
