Guest guest
I would be inclined to try some Epsom Salts baths which I think would help him. We had this issue with my son when we first started No Fenol and it was like the first time we REALLY noticed phenol issues. Perhaps try giving a NF earlier in the day when you are planning Pizza. I suspect the tomatoes.............. Mandi in UK Hi all. I'm in the middle of searching the archives but thought I'd also post this to the group. My 6 y.o. son has been on enzymes consistently now for about 4 weeks. I've noticed over the last few days that when he eats pizza (I give him peptizyde, zyme prime and no fenol), later in the day he's got extremely red ears. Along with the red ears, his behavior changes. Right now, he's laying on our bed with the red ears, and he's off and on crying and just sad and irritable. He's also putting his fingers in his nose and will grab for a second his private area. I don't know what to make of this. Other than this happening a few times now, he's doing great on the enzymes. His picky ways are getting better and he's eating a couple more new foods, which is great for him.

My boys have not had red ears since we started elimination diet eliminating all artificial preservatives and food colorings. I haven't challenged any of the artificials yet so I don't know if it was from MSG, BHT, yellow #5, whatever... But we've challenged all the naturals we pulled from their diet so I know it was one of the artificials. - near LAX

My son did not tolerate pizza, even with enzymes, because of the nitrates in the meats [pepperoni and sausage] and he also did not tolerate tomatoes, even with enzymes. Red ears is generally a phenol detox reaction [both nitrates and tomatoes are phenol]. > Any ideas? Could he not be tolerating the dairy even with the > enzymes? This is also possible. And again, it doesn't seem to be Every > Time he has the pizza.... Keep track of what the pizza includes, where you bought it, etc. You might find, for example, that it is the meats and not the rest of the ingredients. Guest guest
When I hear of body parts turning red (bottom, cheeks, ears) this usually indicates the body is trying to detox something - yeast or bacteria by-products - food intolerance - chemical additive like nitrates, colorings - environmental chemical something about the histamine reaction causing flushing. You might try epsom salts to help while looking for the problem. www.enzymestuff.com/epsomsalts.htm Here is a link to the common 'Feingold foods' or salicylates: www.enzymestuff.com/dietsfg.htm . Along with the red ears, his behavior changes. With pizza, consider it might be the nitrates and other preservatives common in pizza - including additives in the cheese and crust! Pizza can be a challenging food to determine the problem because it has a little of everything in it. Enzymes work GREAT on actual food, but they had limited effect on artificial chemicals because those are not real food. >>>> As another note, I am chelating him every other day with the transdermal DMPS... He's generally happier, more sociable and more with it lately which could be a combination of the dmps and enzymes. This could be. He is detoxing a lot. The additives in the pizza would add to the 'total load' of items his body is processing out. This also seems likely due to the fact he is showing many positives along with this occassional problem, and this problem doesn't happen every time he has pizza. So the total load may be the problem. Consider his toxin load over an entire week and not just day by day. Try the epsom salts. www.enzymestuff.com/epsomsalts.htm Are you giving lots of antioxidants with the chelation/detox? Usually that is a part of it: vitamin C, E, A. Another quick test would be to give pizza regularly once a week, then twice a week, etc and see what his limit is at this time. My SIL said she could eat a small amount of chocolate once a week without getting a migraine. But if she ate it twice or three times in a week, she got a migraine. .
