Guest guest
Janelle, My son was GFCF for about four years. He has completely off the diet since November, 2003. He is doing well. He is still a picky eater, though. Robin
Guest guest
Robin, We have been gfcf for 4 months. He only ate carbs/dairy prediet for it is toast chips and gfcf cookies. We started enzymes about 2 months ago and he mood is greatly improved. I just hope sometime he will eat some meat and veggies and less carbs/sugars to get a handle on yeast. Guest guest
There are many people who NEVER went gfcf and instead chose enzymes from day #1. It would be good to hear from them, too. > I would love to hear so stories of ASD kids being able to go off the > diet with enzymes. No regression, in fact he potty trained after starting the enzymes. (and we had been working on that for almost a year) Candex is great for yeast, Houstons No-fenol between meals helps, too. I still have to really limit sugar, starches, artificials to keep yeast under control. I just started L-glutamine to help heal his gut, per s suggestion. Guest guest
Hi, you asked for experience of using enzymes without having done teh GFCF diet. My daughter Emma (6yo, pdd-nos) started enzymes (afp pept. and zyme prime) mid-May. We never did the GFCF diet, but I always tried to limit her gluten intake (particularly in the evenings, as I noted a correlation between eating pasta for dinner and late-night insomnias - she'd wake up around 3-4 am for an hour or two). So far, we've noticed a language explosion both in vocabulary and pronounciation (but not yet a great improvement in sentence structure). There are other things going on at the same time (added a one-on-one aid for the end of kindergarten to get ready for 1st grade), so its hard to say what is really helping - probably both! We have seen no changes in eye contact (sometimes its great, sometimes its very hard for her), or in stims (which for Emma consists mainly of putting things in her mouth and chewing - although never swallowing). My son needed certain food removals, even with HNI enzymes, but he was able to eat gluten/casein again. > Also are there any enzymes which help control yeast. For my #3, he would do this when he was eating a food or supplement he did not tolerate, or when he had a yeast problem. For other kids, adding zinc removes this problem.
