Guest guest Posted March 16, 2004 Report Share Posted March 16, 2004 What you eat is going to your baby and also chemicals that your body is absorbing are possibly going through to your baby as well. As much as possible, avoid cleaning products. When my daughter cut way back on nursing I noticed a big jump in her language-could it have been my breastmilk was contaminated? We'll never really know but nothing else had changed at that time and she had just turned 3. Don't stop breastfeeding for fear of what you may be passing to him; I believe it really did save my daughter from having a lot of problems. My 26 month old is autistic and I still breast feed due to his limited diet. I have lupus and many symptoms of depression and forgetfulness and I wonder if my breast milk could be harming him. Did you have any health problems? How quickly did you see a change after you stopped nursing? Is your child otherwise casein free (breast milk has casein) Has your child recovered dramatically without breast milk? Did you get any professional opinions about this? I would wonder if breastfeeding is causing more problems for you because my understanding is that the body draws it's resources to breastmilk first leaving you depleted of nutrients you need? Anyone I know has said they believe the breastfeeding helped their child and possible prevented more problems; usually it's stories of all the ear infections the child started getting after they stopped and most stopped around 1 year.
