Guest guest
It's not just DAN doctors who charge a lot. Speech, occupational and senior ABA therapists often have bills that are even higher than DAN doctors. Then there are craniosacral therapists, AIT and the list goes on. We are a great market, us desperate parents with difficult to treat kids. If anyone wants to make money off us it's not hard. > abmd/message/40702 > > huge sums > > i'm getting a bit iffy about some of the attiudes on these boards
Guest guest
Hi Hope, How is Gibson doing lately? It just seems like with all his issues something should be alleviating the problem. Did you determine if he was impacted? That distended belly has to be coming from somewhere. Same for his appetite. On a much smaller scale, when 's yeast starts kicking in she gets kind of like artificially " hungry " . She really is hungry, yet it comes after meals where she normally is fine. She starts trolling the kitchen looking for things she can eat like an addict. It's really sad because in some ways she's pretty normal and knows what she can have and can't, yet I see the longing in her eyes. In fact, the other day she asked for another hamburger and I think the main reason was to scam a bite of a tomato. (Tomato's has some funky reaction, I think it's phenols, but I had ran out of " her " catsup so felt guilty and gave her some tomato slices.) What are the experts telling you? Is he verbal and can he express in words stuff to you? Take care, Kari Re: a little bit of an eye opener about dan doctors prices It's not just DAN doctors who charge a lot. Guest guest
Well, our insurance system is forcing doctors to spend almost zero time with patients. Any doctor who, for instance, wants to spend two hours actually playing with your child to evaluate them, and another two hours getting real health history information will not be covered by insurance. Is this sort of service worth $100 an hour? I'm not sure, but I do know that our doctor also has to pay overhead - office space, secretarial services, computers, etc. I don't get the sense that our particular doctor is getting rich...It is expensive, but I'm not sure it's because doctors are greedy or taking advantage. I'm more annoyed by our insurance system than anything else. We insured ourselves against unanticipated risk, but it seems that when we actually had a health problem, it was not deemed such, and therefore, not covered! Guest guest
well in that link i gave to abmd the supplements the docotor had advised were flawed so you have huge sums being spend for very flawed advice and testing that is useless. yet i see some of these parents on these boards spending these large sums not prepared to sort out anything for themselves, get ansy if encourged to think outside the box or expecting any post replys to lay it out all for them with no work on their part. > > abmd/message/40702 > > > > huge sums > > > > i'm getting a bit iffy about some of the attiudes on these boards
Guest guest
I agree 100%. I was jsut telling hubby the othere day. There has to be a way our kids could get the therapy that they need. Ot,Sp, PT, cranial therapy, ABA, behaivor therapist. They are all so expensive. Then we have two with special needs. We cnanot afford the expense, so our kids lose out.It is not fair!!!
