What is secretin and what is the positive result you were looking for? I

don't understand why he wanted you to add milk back in if the lactose

levels were low - or do you mean he didn't show lactose intolerance on the

test?

I'm still trying to figure out if it's worthwhile going thru this

lactose/fructose intolerance tests or not with my 2.5 & 4.5yo. If I do and

they show to be lactose intolerant will he then take me more seriously? My

boys do not have autism diagnosis but he did ask me about that when I

mentioned speech delays and I told him they don't have formal diagnosis but

I do have my suspicions...(leaning toward Aspergers, esp. for oldest though

wonder about youngest too).

My husband thinks the lactose test would be worthwhile if only to confirm

for us that lactose is an issue in addition to whey & casein. When I did

casein trail alone (non-dairy cheese with casein as additive 1 slice on 1

day) they only seemed to get stuffed up heads and excess ear wax by next

day. In previous encounters with dairy products (ice cream mainly but also

pancakes at restaurant that likely were cooked with both milk and butter)

they have had major diarrhea for next 24 hours. Anybody know how to do a

whey only trial?

They had major gas whenever I consumed dairy when I was nursing causing

them to scream hours on end which stopped when I removed diary from my diet

(which I did while nursing each boy and we weaned to soy until we learned

recently that rice or almond milk is better). Last sat. we put 1/4 cup 2%

milk in their rice milk just to prove to ourselves that lactose is an issue

and though we got no diarrhea (which is what I was expecting) they did get

MAJOR gas.

Can anybody shed some light on this (since the GI doc was not of much

help!). He told me I can add wheat and dairy back into their diet and I

should cut all fruit & juice (never mind that their diarrhea went away for

the entire 3 months we were strict on GFCF and only appeared the week

before we saw him which I am now convinced was a viral issue as I changed

nothing and their stools went back to normal a few days later while still

GFCF and still consuming a small amount of fruit juice 1x/day and fruit in

it's whole form or fruit leathers daily, also confirmed after the visit

with him that Ped. was aware of diareah bug that is going around).

theres a huge variety of wheys, some much more digestiable than

others but there are tradefoffs in terms of fraction completeness,

lactose removal and cost.

immunocal may be ok

also www.houstonni.com digestive enzymes, zyme, pep and nofenol (rice

bran filler in capsules)

no fenol has a secretin like action but you are probably best to

start with pep and zyme.
