Guest guest
a: My son is always tired too! And I've always had concerns about muscle tone. always manages to test on the low end of normal. Things really fell apart around here this summer! I totally understand that overwhelming feeling (don't we all!). I've always managed to hold it toghther but I almost went postal over the osteoperosis and bowel impaction thing. My son had a GI appointment..just a check-up..and the doctor thought his abdomen look distended and that his bowel felt too full. So he sent us for an x-ray and noticed (aside from the fact that his bowel was packed full of stool)that 's bone density looked poor. The fact that has had three separate fractures (and the doctor knows this because we always visit the same children's hospital for everything) made him wonder about osteoperosis so we had a dexascan done. The poor kid has it from head to toe! Even his skull and spine have suffered from the GI issues. I guess it's just a result of years of malabsorption ( is 6 years old and has always had food issues). Anyway, I am really glad that I found this supplement! We are now up to a full child's dose and I haven't seen any problems. HTH! Guest guest
Just jumping in here, my son had x-ray of his hand for growth issues and I too was blown away when they saw some irregularities in his bone, they suspect osteoporosis also.He is having bone density test 9/22 he also had a slew of bloods to determine vit d levels ionized calcium, calcitonin and parathyroid level drawn. His DAN told me that they are seeing quite a few children w/early osteoporosis from lack of absorption, and like you said who knows for how long they haven't been getting the stuff they need to grow. My son is also 6.Has your sonhad any repeat x-ray or scan to see if it has improved? Will it improve? My son hasn't had any broken bones yet, but he does have an abnormal looking chest cavity, kind of barrel like, for lack of a better word. > a: > > My son is always tired too! Osteoporosis can also be a sign of lead toxicity. You can ask your doctor to test for that. Dana
Guest guest
Thanks Dana, We did a lead level back in May and his level was 2.5(referenece range 0.0-9.0)but since starting this whole mission, lab values are just that a bunch of somewhat insignificant numbers. A 2.5 level to my son may be a toxic level, yet not toxic for another child. For instance, the plasma amino acids we had drawn, came back " normal amino acid levels " he had abnormals all over the place DAN said we jsut get the numbers and we interpret what it means for your child and treat accordingly. It drives me crazy as all of my kids have scoliosis to some degree, one has scoliosis and kyphosis. Yet talk to the reg mainstream pediatrician jsut shrugs his shoulders and can give me no explanation, other than just it is the way it is.They all have been tested positive for gene mutation MTHFR so I am muddling my way thru all of this to find a common denominator for their individual issues, that will affect them for the rest of their lives. Thanks ofr the heads up I will mention this to his DAN to see what he thinks.
