Of course, there are various opinions on the matter, but the general

concensus seems to be that fiber helps people with bacteria. Would

this be soluble fiber or non-soluble fiber in the capsules? What type

of fiber is in the supplement? Also, I think you mean bacteria in the

colon...is this right or bacteria in some other location?

---I was thinking about bacteria in the stomach. And I have the

water-soluble kind. It contains Guar gum, apple pectin and oat bran.

I buy this stuff at Costco. It is like a no-name brand laxative but

made from 100% natural fiber. Works well for me.

I don't remember the exact name of it but it is in a large white and

green container and says something about " natural laxative " on the

label. Should be easy to spot.

I use bene-fiber due to IBS and it does not bother my lap band at all. I just

add some to tea or coffee and you do not taste it. I think it is the best thing

that has happened to people that need fiber!

you're in an entirely new world as a Bandster and many things that worked

I definitely have not been able to take in enough fiber through food (on top

of the protein I need), but I was worried about that too (fiber supplements

that swell and could block the stoma). I looked around and found " Benefiber "

which was about the only fiber supplement at my pharmacy that DOESN " T say

you must to drink 8 oz. of water with it and have a warning on the label about

how it might " swell. " In fact Benefiber's label specifically says that it's

designed NOT to swell. It says you can take up to something like 6 of them,

3x a day (18!) -- but after a little experimentation, I found that I only

needed one, 2x a day to supplement the fiber I'm getting from food.

Sometimes a natural stool softener like aloe is better then taking the

fiber supplements. Aloe is good for your urinary system aand your skin

too.

I have been on diets for the last 3 decades.I added up all the weight I

have lost, and technically I should be hanging off a charm bracelet by

now!
