Why don't you try Saccromyces boulardii--

it is a yeast that is supposed to eat other yeast and

not take up residence in the gut. Primal Defense has

the good bacteria plus S. boulardii.

Is yeast good for bacteria?

I have a h. pylori problem.

I know yeast keeps bacteria in check.

If I eat yeast would that help get rid of the problem?

I'm thinking of getting a package of yeast and downing it.

Am I on the right track or am I way off?

L-Glutamine will rid the gut of h. pylori in 20-30 days.

--- Is L-glutamic acid the same as glutamine? I read L-glutamic acid

increasespepsin release in the gut.

They are not the same, but related. Glutamine is synthesized by the

body from glutamic acid (or glutamate.) Glutamine participates in many

important physiological functions and is especially important in

maintaining the health of the gastrointestinal tract and the immune

system. It serves as a source of fuel for the cells that line the

gastrointestinal tract, more specifically, the small intestine, and

also serves as a source of fuel for muscle and immune cells. Glutamine

also plays a role in maintaining the body's proper acid-base balance.

Glutamine is synthesized from glutamate and ammonia. Ammonia is a toxic

waste compound with a high pH value, so it is basic. When ammonia

levels are elevated, the body clears ammonia from the blood by

synthesizing glutamine. If the blood is too acidic (pH too low), the

body can break down glutamine into glutamate and ammonia to increase

the pH of the blood. Glutamine also serves as precursor to the

antioxidant glutathione, participates in glycogen synthesis (the

storage form of carbohydrate), and provides nitrogen compounds for the

manufacture of nucleotides which are used to make DNA and RNA.

Individuals exhibiting a weakened immune system often show increased

intestinal permeability (“leaky gut”), suggesting that an inadequate

supply of glutamine is associated with reduced immune function and

increased intestinal permeability.
