Guest guest
Lynn, It is so interesting you posted this today as I just started reading The Gift of Dyslexia last night. Then I went online to amazon and started perusing other dyslexic books, including Irlens. I have recently bought acetates to cover the page when reads. His are blue. He says that it helps make the words stop moving. I will have to dig to find where I ordered them from . I know it was connected with Marie Carbo (sp?). I first ordered the sample kit to try all 20+ colors. He picked the blue but I am not so sure it isn't because it is his favorite color. I think I got to the website from amazon when I typed in dyslexia. Not sure. Robin
Guest guest
Lynn, I don't have any personal experience with Irlen lenses, but last month I heard Dr. Lewine, Ph.D. talk about research he has recently done at the request of Helen Irlen. I don't know who funded the research or when it will be published, but had significant results in favor of using Irlen lenses for a subgroup of people. Dr. Lewine used MEG brain imagining to document improvements in the symmetry of brain waves when subjects used the Irlen lenses. Dr. Lewine is a neuroscientist at the Hoglund Brain Imaging Center at Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. He is also doing some research on Auditory Integration Therapy (which he still needs volunteers for). You can find his contact information below. http://www.kuconnection.org/2003mar/places_1.asp http://www.kumc.edu/hoglund/facultyandstaff.html > <A HREF= " http://www.irlen.com/NoAm.htm " >Click here: Untitled Document</A> > > Life is not getting what you want , it's wanting what you have! ;o) > > Blessings! Guest guest
Lynn, You can get the sheets from http://www.dyslexiacure.com . Of course, I am wary of anything that promises a cure, however, the sheet is reportedly helping , especially on days when he is tired. The home page you can get to from this site brings you to Marie Carbo's National Reading Styles Institute, Inc. The sheets are obviously different than wearing lenses but the premise seems to be similar. LEt me know what you think, Robin
