Guest guest
I did check and ordered the product; it is called Floradix Cal-Mag and comes only as a liquid. Be sure to specify 'cal-mag' when you speak to your health food store; as Floradix also comes in other combinations. I will receive mine early this week and look forward to using it. > Subject: Re: Magnesium Citrate question > > << Marie, > > They sell it here with calcium and Zinc > www.florahealth.com . > >> > _____________________________ > > I went to this site and did not see a magnesium > product. Guest guest
Hi there I started my 4 year old on DMG B6 and Magnesium (suppliment) a few weeks ago.. When we went to the GI last week I told him about this and told him I had plans on ordering Magnesium Citrate (reading it helps with constipation) and he jumped all over me saying NO u do NOT give a child magnesium citrate regularly. That he only orders that for severe cases and just for a day or two to clean them out. Scared me right out of ordering magnesium citrate. Then went on to question why I am approaching her this way... I said well this is vitamins and food suppliments and NOTHING any doctors have ordered for the past 2 1/2 years of my girls life has helped NOTHING! He has had her on Miralax or Lactulose for the past 2 years (I believe that long now) as she has been constipated since she was 6 months old. He still claims she is HOLDING it in but wanting to push it out... She has been potty trained for 2 years now, NEVER a poop accident! So I just dont buy into the whole HOLDING IT IN when she runs to the potty and goes on her own for 2 years now! Now my question is, why did he warn me so heavily on mag citrate when I read others recommending it so? I have not given her Miralax for a few weeks now.. and shes going every other day and honestly shes doing better without it I think.. WHen shes on it she seems like shes cramping but shes NOT a crier and cant talk so I am unsure. I am doing this all on my own, her Ped, Neuro, and GI drs are giving no advise or anything. Is there a specialist in Florida someone can recommend? Or a specialist I should be asking to take her to like say a Nutrientist? Or something. Thanks for readin!!!!!!!! Guest guest
Lena, Interesting that he would be recommending something as harsh as Miralax (I've heard lots of nightmares about it!) and scoff at magnesium, of all things! Could it be that Miralax requires a prescription? Hmmmmmm..... I would, however, use another form of magnesium, other than citrate, which has a tendency to aggravate yeast. We use mag. chelate. Sounds like her body is doing better without the Miralax anyway. Dr. Bradstreet's office is in Florida. Here is a link and you can contact them: http://www.gnd.org/contact/contact.htm All the best, On Mar 30, 2005, at 6:20 AM, Lena wrote: > > > Hi there I started my 4 year old on DMG B6 and Magnesium > (suppliment) a few weeks ago.. Guest guest
Your doctor is a quack. He/She gives a drug for years but faints at the idea of giving a mineral supplement???? My son doesn't react well to Mag Citrate but all that happens is that he doesn't sleep very well on any form of Mag in too high a doses. No real harmful side effect here!!!!!! I can't give him enough to solve constipation unless I don't want him to sleep but that resolves itself in less than 24 hours. I am not saying it will work best for your daughter but it might. Your doc is about as dumb as the ped that assured me that my 7 mo old son could not be waking up at night because of reflux - told me that I had trained him to wake up by responding to his crying. Well years on I found out that he did indeed have reflux and it contributed to his night waking - had to wait until he could talk and explain it though. Dump the doctor and do what you feel is right. Guest guest
>>>Now my question is, why did he warn me so heavily on mag citrate when I read others recommending it so? That is what I would like to know. I would have asked, and you might want to do so. Ask what is this based on and what does he have for references on it. Your view is the exactly the one I had after 2 years at the Children's Hospital: We have been here, and paid, for 2 years and tried every little thing they suggested but my sons were not better. So it isn't working. If it hasn't worked in 2 years, what makes anyone think it will work tomorrow? Time to try something different. You doc has already tried 'the hard stuff'. Why not try magnesium citrate or other form of magnesium? Plus, it does sound like encopresis to me (having lived through that). Here is the encopresis program: http://www.enzymestuff.com/rtencopresis.htm It isn't expensive, just needs some management. The trick is not to get lazy and keep them on the potty schedule for the full 5-6, months. My son finally got his bowels in order after this. If your child isn't as severe, you might not need that long. We used magnesium citrate the entire time (as the product Natural Calm). I finally found this program after years of going to the gastroenterologist and hunting for what was wrong. .
Guest guest
I have used magnesium citrate, would be interested to know the difference in citrate and chloride. The product is Natural Calm by Gillham was recommended by the health food store. I believe it is easily absorbable as I can tell a difference right after drinking it. It is concoction mixed with hot water. Hope that helps. Donna

Guest guest
Hi Bee, Its Neary again. I am 5'1. I weigh 105 lbs before the diet. When i calculate my ratio, it was: 55g Protein, 137.5-192.5g Fats, and 44g carbs. Are we suppose to increase our fats when we gain weight?( currently 120-125 ILBS)....Just calculating what I ate yesterday...the EGGNOGS( for breakfast and dinner): 4 eggs= 29.2 g protein, 24 g fat; 4 TBPS BUTTER X12g per TBPS= 48g; CO 6 TPBS X14g per TBPS= 84g....my eggnogs alone equals 156 g of fats, 29.2 g protein already....and this is not even including my lunch...please tell me where i went wrong bee..Thank you! Love, Neary > > > > Hi Bee, > > > > Yes, I am consuming enough good fats. I drink bee's eggnog( 2 eggs, TBPS butter, and 2 TBSP CO) for breakfast + supplements+ fish oil, lunch I'll have 2 TBPS of of coconut oil along with my vitamins + fish oil with my FOOD, and dinner is just eggnog again...everyday..so I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Most of the carbs I eat is kimchi and some boiled vegetables. I am 27 yrs old and I am a recovering carbaholic...but I have been on this program for a year..just wondering why weight is not normalizing yet...-=[ > > +++Hi Neary. I doesn't seem as if you are consuming enough good fats yet. Check your ratios by entering all the foods you ate yesterday in www.fitday.com, along with cod liver oil, and see what your protein to fat to carb ratios actually are. > > Bee >

Yes you must increase fats, and keep your carbs low, to help your body lose weight since you need to change over from running your body on sugar/carbs to running on good fats. Have you ever been overweight in the past? The best, Bee
Guest guest
> > Dear Bee, > > No, I was never on birth control. I was on antibiotic several times and that was it. However, I do have a goiter that has gone down tremendously!..I was thinking that maybe when my thyroid goes back to where it use to be( where you can see the clavicle and all, lol), thats is when i will lose weight...but i don't know...I am just guessing. What is a professional colonic? Will that help my body lose weight?..I can increase my fats, but not sure where to start, too much vitamin A from animal fats is too much including the cod liver fish oil?..oh Bee, I can't use sesame oil at all? +++Hi Neary. That is very possible your thyroid may be causing problems. A professional colonic is done by a person trained in giving enemas. It will help your liver, but not necessarily weight. Like I wrote yesterday I believe your fats are okay, and to increase them eat more butter, bacon fat, lard, etc., but do not increase vitamin A or cod liver oil. Pork contains very high fats. No, do not use sesame oil. Bee
