Guest guest
Finally, something that I can comment on. I usually ask the questions, but this one I can answer. I have been giving Nordic Naturals to my son for 2 years now, and don't ever intend to give them up. Yes, it takes about 3 weeks to see improvements, although some have seen improvements right away. Usually, during the first 3 weeks of adjustment, there is some hyperness, loose stools, really vivid dreams at night, some tantrum type issues....but then it all winds down and you should see better speech and attention. We used it for speech issues. My son was non-verbal, and this really helped, in addition to the speech therapy. Give it some time. Good luck! Kim > Dear Listmates, > I had purchased Nordic Naturals Omega 3 from my local health food store and have been taking it regulary for over 2 weeks. I decided to try one capsule on my 15 year old daughter this morning after breakfast as her school is closed for the next 2 days. About 30-45 minutes after breakfast, started experiencing a melt down in which she kept patting her stomach when I asked her what hurt. The usual things I give her to help with stomach discomfort like aloe juice or bicarbonate didnt work at all and her melt down lasted for over an hour today. Not sure if it was the Omega 3 capsule or not. Has anyone's child had a negative reaction to omega 3's and can anyone explain why this would happen? > Thanks in advance, > > >

Every time I try to add EFAs, I regret it. I keep trying tho, because my son's only remaining issue is language delay. I don't know why, but he just does not seem to tolerate any EFAs. Good luck. Guest guest
At a dDAN! conference I remember someone saying that kids that can not tolerate omega 3s usually are the ones that need supplementation with omega 6 first. My older son would get very irritable with CLO until I first started applying evening primrose oil to his skin. After about two weeks he was able to take the CLO without a problem! Guest guest
This happened to us too, CLO made him nutty until we preprimed with EPO Mandi in UK My older son would get very irritable with CLO until I first started applying evening primrose oil to his skin. Guest guest
This simplyu means Vitamin C, small frequent doses help absorption and Vitamin E daily. I wouldn;t give oils without them Mandi in UK I was reading some conference notes which suggested not to add it until after anti-oxidants. Guest guest
My child (age 4) has not been able to tolerate fish oils either (I've tried a few brands). I was reading some conference notes which suggested not to add it until after anti-oxidants. I asked why on this board, and someone responded that omega 3's, while helpful, do cause oxidative stress, perhaps too much for your child. We will try to add it later, after a long list of other things to try... After about two weeks > he was able to take the CLO without a problem! I have tried CLO, EPO, and flax/borage. He does best with flax/borage, which has a certain quantity of 3,6, and 9. My son's gut is healed, so he tolerates almost everything now. He generally will only regress now, when I give him something which upsets the balance. I think I will try the flax/borage again. Guest guest
Yes thats how I did the capsule, I always seemed to rub it in his back, mostly because he was running away LOL and that was where I could get it. CLO used to go on his feet, UGH! Mandi in UK Do you just pin prick the epo capsule and squeeze out the entire amount of the oil? My daughter is 15. Is there any special place that you rub it like the soft tissue areas like behind the knees and the opposite side of the elbow? Thanks,

Guest guest
Yes, jennifer, cannot tolerate soy and I had even taken her off the capsule form of Vitamin E for that reason. It never clicked about the soy when I read that there are 28 mg of vit E in each capsule. Guest guest
Glad you found the source of the problem. I use Kirkman's CLO since it is preserved with synthetic vitamin E. www.kirkmanlabs.com problem with omega 3's - need help > > > Dear Listmates, > I had purchased Nordic Naturals Omega 3 from my local health food store and have been taking it regulary for over 2 weeks. Guest guest
Yes, I tried it orally once and he got really crabby and had dark circles under his eyes...so I tried it on his skin and about two weeks later, I tried the CLO orally and then he did not have a problem with it. I put 3 500mg or 1 1500mg EPO on his skin every night. Re: problem with omega 3's - need help , did you try oral EPO before putting it on his skin? Guest guest
Does the EPO reduce hyperness from CLO. I have been following all the posts and am a bit confused. Thanks, Janelle]
