Guest guest
Hi! New to the list...started enzymes last week (NF, afp-pep, ZP) and I've been giving my daughter tryptophan for about a month now. Seems like the E's are interfering with the T.? I usually give the T. with a carb (either veggies or a banana or an apple plus NF and ZP--now that the girls are finally able to tolerate a phenolic food with the NF or so it seems). Anyone have any experience with this? My daughter's ocd is getting worse every day since starting the enzymes, and it looks the same as when she came off Paxil before starting T. It's definitely a serotonin issue...I don't think it's a die -off issue because I know what she looks like with that. Could really use some input...thanks! --Rose (mom to 11, asd, scd 1 month, and 8 1/2, asd, scd 8 months)
Guest guest
Hi Rose, My daughter was dx'd with OCD too and was able to come off the Paxil within 4 months of starting Dr. Houston's AFP Peptizyde and No-Fenol enzymes alone. Some children, including my daughter, experience some regression when they eat something with papain or bromelain so my daughter needed to stay away from the Zyme Prime. We were already doing the Feingold Diet prior to enzymes which I believed helped with the transitions to enzymes since the body was already cleansed out a bit from eating no artificial colors/flavors/preservatives. Also, make sure to try to eliminate all artificial colors...they can be the cause of regression too (go to the oraganic section/all natural section of your grocery store and check ingredients to be sure anything artificial in it which is very hard on our sensitive children's system. You might want to try to stop everything else, even vitamins and just stick the those two enzymes for awhile and see how things go. The enzymes help everything (food and supplements) get absorbed better, which could cause a reaction acting as if she's getting too much of something because of the better absorption. Then, if you feel that you need to, try adding things back one thing at a time to see if there's a reaction or not. These enzymes can help so many things that you may find you don't need anything else but a good healthy diet and the enzymes (maybe some minerals too....Brainchild has some great minerals for the Ultra-sensitive that we use too) www.brainchildnutritionals.com Keep sending questions to the support group. It gets very busy and sometimes you may find you'll have to send your questions a couple of times since the first one might be overlooked because of all the messages(that's what I'm going to need to do too). Best wishes, Gretchen > Hi! New to the list...started enzymes last week (NF, afp-pep, ZP) and I've been giving my daughter tryptophan for about a month now. Guest guest
Hi Gretchen! Thanks for your response...I didn't think ZP had bromelain and papain, only the original Pep and we are using the afp- pep to avoid those two things because of Phenol issues. I checked the bottles and I don't see them listed on ZP...am I missing something? Thaks! --Rose > > Hi!
