Guest guest
Hi Robin- I'm still not Dana, but we just unwrapped a book called Stonking Steps, a journey through ing-ong-ung, by Will . We haven't read it yet (the main character is seven-year-old ) but the notes about the author mention that " Will works as a teachers' aid in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He feels his high-functioning autism gives him a unique perspective on the world. He loves maps, weather statistics, travel and words ending in the letter 'Q'. He recently completed a solo 122 mile hike. " HTH, Re: Re: don't cure your child! Dana, At what point did you realize what you wanted to do? My son is so content to be by himself it is very difficult to have him participate in social situations. He does not have any interests other than his " special " interest which is taking drives, seeing how roads connect, where they change names, what their number is, etc. He will also study the road atlas. Guest guest
My 10-year-old son dx Asperger has a consuming special interest that I'm not sure I want him to lose: gemstones and jewelry. We visit jewelry stores, and he watches QVC and Home Shopping Network when they are selling loose stones or jewelry, insisting that I have to come to the TV right now, get on the phone and order whatever lovely thing is on screen. (I hardly ever do that.) Are emeralds in my future? ) Jan F > Dana and , > > Thank you both for your replies. > > Dana, I think maps are wonderful, too!
